mobo doesnt like ati cards

i ve tried both the x1600pro 256mb agp, sapphire x1950pro 512mb agp. both cards reaact the same i get strange colors in the bios, besides that, the system runs fines games etc, 3dmarks06 4401 when oced to 2.4ghz, from a stock amd 3200+ clawhammer 2.0ghz, one thing i had a nvidia evga 7800gs oc, the bios colors go away, my guess is that ati cards dont like uli chipsets, anyways should i be concerned hear, i dont want wreak my new x1950 pro

I dont think it shud be an issue if your windows is running fine in giving u no unusual colors ................. if i am wrong please someone correct me.

u may need to turn off the bios option to enhance gfx performance should be somewhere in the pci-e or peg settings

this is what mine looks like ive read that this option only effects ati cards and wont "enhance" nvidia ones

the option u listed is not in my bios, this is my back up rig, im using a asus k8u-x agp 8x board

hmm thats i used to have a board with the same uli chipset only it was gigabyte K8u never had a problem like that with any of my ati cards x800-x1950xt

i have the lastest bios, i have some other troubles with it, onboard sound and usb ports, dont work i think the south bridge chip is dead, so i had to put in my old sb live card back in and a pci usb card, also with 2 different psu's showed way off readings for the 12v rail and 3.3v it jumps from 12.560 to 12.656, 3.156. to 3.298. thats with pc probe, when i check this bios 12v is fine 11.911 to 11.989. but the 3.3v remains the same

Could it be a corrupt BIOS ?.. Like if it is 1/2 dead it worth a shot right ?. Install a older BIOS test and update the BIOS to most corrent again..

i just updated the bios not to long ago, if i remember right i had the same issues with the older bios, i just think uli doesnt like ati cards

The colors mean you have an ATi card. It's fine. My last system was very similar to yours, I ran it for years without a problem.

I used to have the same rainbow thing up top in BIOS with my old ASUS P4P800SE.
Ran fine though.
