Phenom OC Challenge

Well here I go again!
Being the rebel and AMD lover I am I have just purchased a AMD 9500 Phenom processor.
I have seen very little and searched far and wide on OC'ing this processor. I have found this to be a bear and can not get a stable OC from this whatsoever. *A huge dissapointment after OC'ing a 4000+ and a 4200+ without any problems. Is there a trick to setting this bitch afire?

I have done the typical multiplier drops and ht link and touched the voltage up a bit but lose stability after around a 50mhz OC. How lame is that! :banghead:

Well the chip is now looking better with the new bios update 1.1. The chip does OC different than the K8s do.

So far my highest score in 3D06.

Highest CPU OC very buggy at this point

Now I think I might be able to do a run even higher than what I have. I just need to play with the bios settings a little more.

This looks to be a 100% stable for now

I ran this test for over 24 hours.

i have read they dont like the fsb going up too much.. the ones with an unlimited multiplier will go higher then the ones without..

but if a phenom clocked like the earlier amd chips it would be a success.. its its inability to run at high speeds thats the main problem...

correct me where im wrong, wasnt the problem with the phenoms coming out late summat to do with siilicon and not reaching a good clock rate , which would mean that they wont oc that well? (or as well as c2d/quad)

correct but everyone knows that a C2Q OC's well. This is a new challenge.

what kind of divider, multi, link are you running and how much did you have to overvolt?? My past AMD chips were pretty power hungry.

LOL DOH! Yea The voltages and all are there. I have done plenty of oc'ing but I am thinking this POS AM2+ MB is finicky. I thought I'd be tricky and save some funds this time by picking up one of the new ECS77M-A AM2+ boards and swapping out the passive coolers with air and liquid. Unfortunately even with the newer bios there is still a very limited amount of unlocked BIOS options being this is a budget board I am sure I'll find a weakness. I will do my best to cook this turd and keep you posted.
Also how are your temps holding out?

Wow that is one awesome overclock. Highest i got was 2706 but could run a bench. Will read the other post, keep it going.

I heard that AMD was having troubles getting four perfect native cores in one chip. The Core 2 Quads are much easier to produce since they are made up of 2 dual core chips fused together and it is much easier to get two perfect cores then four. I have read that AMD is going to start slinging tri core chips this year also and i'll bet they are just the phenoms with a bad core.
