crossfire-x with 3 or 4 cards

hello to all

any one have try or see a crossfire-x with 3 or 4 cards?

I have gigabyte ma790fx-dq6 and to 3850 with 256mb from sapphire

I want to know how to set a crossfire with 3 or 4 cards

Also I need to know what diference can do 3 or 4 cards in my rig.?

Anyone?

If your willing to dish out the cash for 3 - 4 cards, might as well get rid of the 3850, and get 3-4 single slot 3870's. You would rule dude!

erocker... man... all respects... but my income is only 700$ per 30 days

soo the price from my country is ~ 1/3 from my income .... I need money for university, for food, for many things...

I all ready have 2 hd 3850 single slot, and the mobo, dont suport 4 cards with 2 slots.

also the ideea is to run with same power surce a fortron 700 watt

I'm sure the will be single slot 3870's from Sapphire soon... I also run 3 HD3870 in my asus not in CFX yet because the driver... and i sure if to run 4 HD3870 need 1K PSU or more....

With 4 3850 if CF im sure u will good gaming rig... sure to send us the pic and 3dmark06 pic...

Wow I didn't know you had single slot HD3870's. Which brand makes it?

You can catch up with updates to the Crossfire X technology in this thread. As of now, you cannot setup Crossfire with 3/4 cards as ATI hasn't released supportive drivers for it, not even beta drivers.

How did you install 3 way Crossfire without supportive drivers? Can you put up a screenshot of your GPU-Z or point us to its validation page, please? Somethings look really unreal in your system specs. Enlighten us with the GPU-Z validation.

the GPU-Z even last version dont see my card to be in crossfire mode

but see all the data from the cards (gpu and memory clocks...)

simple dont see the crossfire mode active

in 7 hour I will put a screen with GPU-Z (I'm at work now )

No problem, brother I'm not asking you either. I'm interested in how ccleorina did it. You can use GPU-Z to check if your cards are in a CF / SLI array by clicking on the drop-down list above the "close" button. It will list all the cards that are in a multi-GPU array. If it still doesn't, please report it in the GPU-Z forums. They'll be glad to help you.

the scors from 3dmark are low... because I use 4x1GB ddr1066 in 800mhz on phenom 9500@2.2ghz...

I need to change my ram to 2x2GB... seems that phenom B2 revision dont run in 1066Mhz with 4 dims (that say Gigabyte support team)

If you're using the GA-MA790FX-DS5/DQ6 then yes they don't take in four double-sided DIMMs and also anything above 2.4V

DDR2 1066 2x2GB kits are a rarity now, I'd much rather suggest you buy a DDR2 800 2x2GB kit that has CAS latency 4T by SPD, overclock it as close as you can to 1066 (533 x 2) MHz at 2.3V and CAS 5T. It will come close to a DDR2 1066 2x2 GB kit and at a much lower price

there is no point in running multiple 256 meg cards.. scores in 2006 with its low default resolution aint worth jack sh-t..

it comes down to one thing.. multiple cards allow a higher resolution to be run than single cards.. first u need the monitor that will do this.. secondly u need enough card ram to handle it.. 256 isnt enough..

ps.. from the good side it wont need a 1000 watt psu to run multiple 3870 cards.. three 19 amp 12 volt rails would do.. say a good 750 watt psu to run four of em..

Yep!! I had set up a 4x 3870 rig with a buddy and we put it on a PC power & cooling 750 crossfire edition, ran great, sucks that you have to go phenom though, thats why ill never make the change

Don't look at the monitor. Look at its resolution. Is yours like 1600x1050?

Some games don't 'support' Crossfire. Such games could face it. But some game engines do support it....and even exploit it when tiling or AFR. Others only get to play games at higher resolutions better, while games like Crysis don't support it out-of-box and require some hacking.

there is a patch upate that allows the use of crossfire in crysis, it works really well!

I didn't know that. All this while I was using the Korean mod. Anyways. Try your games using AFR (alternate frame rendering) and tiling, compare the frame-rates and tell me. I'm more of NVidia and SLI guy so I'm getting at something.

There's something to learn from that chart. Compare the minimum FPS between single and multi-GPU. See that? That's because of the load-balancing mode. When the GPUs have to render a complex scene with too much shader calculations and geometry (which is generally when you get low FPS), the single GPU outperforms. That's the catch. I am interested to see how the 2x HD3850 compares to a single HD3870 unit in minimum FPS.

from my test I see the patch have real optimization on the multi GPU, but DX9 have better support. Also I see there are only 1 FPS diference from 32bit and 64bit version, that can be from the game engine or from vista (I run vista X64).

I wait a better catalist driver...

i bought a new 790x mobo and another 3870 card to run crossfire.. i run a 1680 x 1050 max resolution monitor.. after three days of real world testing i put both the new 790x mobo and second 3870 card up on ebay..

that was my opinion of crossfire.. good teamed up with an overclocked intel quad system for bragging rights in 2006 but bugger all else..

ps.. i spose i should add a bit.. older stuff did scale well with it.. but running 170 fps instead of 100 fps in quake 4 aint much of a gain to me.. one card was ample.. crysis didnt work with it.. basically cluttering my case up with extra cards drawing extra power for no real world gain didnt seem a worthwhile objective..
