Got it.... Thing is I don't remeber sending this to anyone anyways, only posting it on TPU as soon as I found out. My point is that I posted this news like last year and it never got posted in the news section. I don't want to sound like a baby here, sooo anyways about that Vienna...

What new features will it have that vista did not have, anyone know, is it too soon to say...

A smaller Kernal is all that they have revealed

The problem I have with Win xp 64 is that alot of my stuff wont work on it, or at the time, it didnt. If anyone has a link to things that do work, Ill gladly go to the 64 bit version.

this confirms to me that Vista is the new Windows Millennium and hopefully with this new OS m$ realises that making the end user need to upgrade their systems in order to use an OS will hamper sales greatly.

:laugh:You couldnt be more wrong. Vista is not the new Windows ME. They arent even in teh same ballpark. Vista does not crash like Windows ME does/did. ME crashed like eveyr 11 seconds. Vista does not. I always laugh at those who say Vista is like ME because it is ignorant to think so.

Microsoft even stated that Vista was just a place holder until the next OS. The new OS (Windows Seven) is supposed to have a slimmed down core using WinMin (or is it MinWin?) and its supposed to be completely redone from the ground up.

EDIT: Its MinWin

Ah sorry lol. I think he meant that Vista is like ME in that is sucks compared to the previous OS and now they are trying to replace it as soon as possible.

As I have already stated, it was just a place holder until they were able to completely redo the next Windows installment from the ground up. Literally.

Its kernal will be stripped back from Vista and be less resource hungry according to reports will be alot friendlier with older software and the ui will be different. I assume weel also have the latest dx for it and the rest who knows.

Its still too early in teh game to tell as Microsoft hasnt released details about the new OS really, but yeah, pretty much everything you just said with the addition of touch screen tech.

Are you a noob, seriously?

I'm running vista on both my PC and my laptop, and it runs just smooth. I might lose a couple of frames in games, but that's not something to do die over, right ?

I like it more than XP. It's better in every aspect, except it's hunger for resources. The last can be fix with a minor upgrade ( ram is cheap isn't it )

And yes I'm a noob, been like that forever...

Care to prove that? XP x64 RAN EVERYTHING for me splendidly. Faster and more stable than XP x86, and I use an asston of apps and games. The only thing that didn't function was my cell phone due to no drivers of course. This was about 2 yrs ago. But alas, the installation died eventually, but it did last longer than ANY other installation of windows I've had ever.

Vista x64 is the one everyone's having problems with. Of course regular shitsa is bad enough. Steer clear like you're on another titanic and vista is an iceberg.

Are you a noob, seriously?

It doesn't really have to do as much with just features as it has to do with reliability, performance, and just everything in general. ME locked up all the time (literally every 5 mins if you were doing something and randomly if it was idle) and was just plain jacked. Obviously, Vista isn't as bad in that respect, but overall, it's horrible. M$ and everyone would like to pretend that ME never existed. The same is happening with Vista. Perhaps it's ME's sibling. Either way, it stands up to ME's legacy of atrociousness, therefore, it's referred to as ME2.

Edit: I was also just thinking that the same thing has happened with both OSes. For ME, they took 98 and piled 2000 type crap on it and screwed it up. For Vista, they took XP and changed some WDMs, added that worthless aero shit and that ruined it. I wonder if they'll learn on the new one. I doubt it.

Windows ME is the only OS that I have installed that when left on and alone for two weeks, goes EMO and kills its self.

Sure Xp x64 was faster and more stable than its x86 counterpart, but it still left me hanging high and dry with some of my drivers, a game, and a few applications. One of the products from Adobe come to mind. I dont recall which one it was, but it wasnt the PDF reader. Im stating my experience with XP x64 and I never said that it wasnt a good OS. Just FYI.

Heh. I have no issues with Vista x64 and neither does anyone else I know that run it. I find it funny how you mention that its "shitsa". I have a feeling you are one of those that didnt run Vista for very long when you tried it. And the last time you did try it was around the time it was first released. Either that, I had one issue with Vista when it was released and now that is fixed. It was with TuneUp Utilities 2007. Wasnt x64 compliant so it woudlnt work even in XP x64. So to me, ignorance comes to mind when you refer to the Vista OS. It has a helluva lot more support than it did when it was first released. If you want to go as far as saying that Vista didnt work with this or that; think of this, Microsoft gave software developers plenty of time to convert their software. So it is not in the hands of Microsoft if an application or whatever doesnt work. It is not up to Microsoft to make every product out on the market to work. It is solely that of the software developer whose app you are trying to use.

Adobe worked fine for the stud haha. I did use shitsa extensively for 6 months. It is complete and utter garbage. SP1 doesn't even make it bearable. The same problems are still there that make it slow as dog shit. It also locks up just as easy as XP from any app behaving remotely unstable. I didn't have too many issues with shitsa x86 not running programs, but why would devs have to rewrite the program at all (except for some that use drivers)? Vista is XP, literally. They dicked it up really bad, but the underlying base is XP. If they wouldn't have ass raped the WDM it would be akin to the 2000/XP likeness.

I would rather use 98 than Vista. That's how sad it is. I doubt it will ever be a viable OS (4 gigs of ram doesn't count). It's just too bloated and they can't fix the problems.

I disagree with you 100% and I will not continue to argue the point because you will just continue to ramble on about how "bad" Vista is and I will just be wasting my time.

XP x64 still has a huge lack of support where as Vista x64 doesnt.

all i can say is bullshit, the ONLY thing i havent found drivers for that i own
webcam that came with my old x800xt pe
soundblaster live 5.1 plat(creative sucks ass!!!!)

things that i have found drivers for that are up to date.

cmedia based 5.1 soundcard same age as sblive, drivers are up to date for both x64 and vista versions.

motherboard
videocard
various usb devices
mothers cell phone (motorola)

it has built in drivers for my network cards from dlink/linksys/realtek/3com/belkin and others,

oh and i found tvcard drivers for 4 diffrent tv cards for people, wasnt hard.

as to vista......no cell phone drivers, no tv card drivers for 3 of the 4 cards, the nics all but 2 requier me to make a disk to support them....oh and about 33% of my heavly used apps dont work properly.

if you want to work with PDF files get foxit tools, cheaper then adoby and more powerfull!!!!!(also load faster!)

as to image editing

paint.net
gimp
paintshop pro
coreldraw

i could go on and on, adoby software sucks.

oh soon there will be a native 64bit version of mediacoder(kickass FREE media encoder/transcoder that can do damn neer anything!!!)

they plan to last i checked, oh forgot to say in the last post, MS planned this long b4 vista went RTM, 2 years then vista is replaced, vienna unlike vista is due to come out server and workstation at the same time.

ms is moving back to how they did windows nt3/nt4/nt5(win2k) and away from what they did with xp(xtream peice of shit)

see in the past ms had alwase put out the desktop/workstation/prof version of the os at the same time as the server, so any updates for it where the same, XP they put out WAY early, hence the LONG wait for server 2003, now vista same deal, but unlike XP they plant to bring vistas core and all the apps up to server 2008 specs.

with vienna they plan to go back to the old way so that it takes less effort to do updates and so that they can be sure there wont be mass problems with the desktop software being stable/reliable.
