So...does this mean the x360 or the ps3 is equivalent to those PC specs?

Say what? XP does detect 3gb...

Yep, just do it like this...

Slot 1: 1GB
Slot 2: 512MB
Slot 3: 1GB
Slot 4: 512MB

It might be different for some motherboards though, check and color match the pairs to the slots or read up on it. Although I'm not sure if XP will run both pairs of slots in dual channel modes, could be wrong. Also, the brand of memory has to be the same as well, ie. mushkin

It will still run dual channel in that setup as long as you have the pairs. Or you can have all slots 1gb, and cry that you lost a gig (like me).

So...does this mean the x360 or the ps3 is equivalent to those PC specs?

I'm a bit unsure whether this is a serious question or if your trying to start a flame war?

- No it means that the developers have spent a few extra months perfecting the PC version and adding extra effects to give the PC gamers more releastic experience, and hence a more hardware intensive system is needed.

Actually looking at the spec it doesn't look too intensive. Like lets be frank who doesn't have atleast a 3800+ or better? Who doesn't have a compatible Direct x 9.0 card? the only thing that intensive about the spec is the need for 3GB ram. But ram is soo cheap, there is no excuse not to have 4GB like me.

Wow... I hope it looks extremely nice.

My PC's CPU isn't good enough, I don't have enough RAM and my graphics card only has SM2. Not sure what they mean with DX10 libraries given that DX10 won't work on Vista - can anyone clear that up?

Edit: don't know why I'm complaining that it won't run on my PC, the last game I bought must've been Medieval II. I hardly game at all anymore, hence the PC which hasn't really been upgraded for a couple of years.

No flaming from me, just hearty discussion. There has never been a connection on what is the PC equivalent to a console. These minimum specs show that the consoles do pack some heat, even though the actual hardware is based on last gen technology.

- No it means that the developers have spent a few extra months perfecting the PC version and adding extra effects to give the PC gamers more releastic experience, and hence a more hardware intensive system is needed.

We will see that when the game comes, from what we all know (from what facts been released)...its just a direct port from the consoles.

Remember this is the "minimum" specs, the least you end to at least play. You know that CRYSIS specs are lower than this! , and is barely playable if you dont have a nextgen DX10 card.

ktr, indeed we should wait for the release before we make any speculations, or atleast a demo version. Crysis was a joke, the developers lied to our faces about the specification and continue to lie about it, the Crytek engine is the most over hyped unoptimized piece of coding I've ever encountered.

Things are not all doom and gloom, look at Unreal Tournament 3 and quake wars, they were both big titles of 2007, and the developers didn't lie and gave a reasonable spec, and it played silky smooth for the people that had the recommended spec. So lets hope assassin creed's developer are truthful about their spec unlike those Crytek liars whom ruine the PC gaming experience.

Wait a sec... 3GB system memory recommended and only a poxy 256MB graphics card? something tells me this game likes loading up textures into system memory and not graphics memory (which can operate much faster than system memory, both in obvious and not so obvious terms) overall looks like a poor console port to me.

minimal != recommended

3GB is recommended, 256MB VRAM is minimal/suggested.
