It now looks almost certain that Sony is planning to release the Ceramic White PS3 in the US sometime soon following a recent filing with the FCC. The model number differs to that of the console being sold in the Asian market, so it looks like it will be a slightly different version, and the controller number suggests a standard SIXAXIS controller rather than the DualShock 3 being sold with the Ceramic model in Asia. No official pricing or launch dates have been revealed, although an announcement is expected on 28th January which could potentially lead to the console going on sale as early as next month.

Reminds me of those white oreo cookies. Lol, on a lighter the dual shocks are coming to the US in the spring and I think this is coming before spring. Nothing wrong with a variety in colors. :toast: I'm just wondering why this isn't going to the UK first, since Sony reported sales of 1.3 million consoles over the christmas holiday.

At least sony is giving a white controller. Not like apple, who sells a nice black macbook, but then gives white accessories.

Lol... If you want to think of it that way then you could turn around and say MS came out with the elite just too tap into the PS3 market.

If thats so, MS did it first and Sony retaliated. Even though I think you're just thinking about it too hard. No one is going to think the PS3 is an Xbox or a Wii when it is placed in a separate isle and says PLAYSTATION 3 on the front (unless maybe you're retarded). :toast:

EDIT: Sony's going to be very hard to compete with in 2008 with the increasing Blu-ray sales and the increased PS3 sales. The production price of the PS3 has lowered, and news is saying the 40gb PS3 will soon be 299$:

I will buy a PS3 in the end, but not until its a reasonable price. Here from somewhere like Game the PS3 that is backward compatible with PS2 games is like ÂŁ300-ÂŁ350. Even if the PS3 was actually a good console (still had the PS2 chip in the european model so PS2 games worked fine) I wouldnt spend that on it. ÂŁ200 maybe, but ÂŁ300+? Sony can suck my big fat knob.

Before anyone says "The european PS3 can play PS2 games" it cant, not properly. it relies on firmware to make PS2 games "compatible", and some nothing short of awsome PS2 games still wont work on PS3, such as MGS.

I believe the reason the price and the product is where it is because the PS2 is still selling good, so Sony doesn't want full integration yet. Many of the customers that Sony wants to buy the PS3 already own a PS2, and are just waiting for them to transfer over (similar to how the Everquest fan base was when Everquest 2 came out).

Any console owner with half a brain just isnt buying a PS3 because its stupidly expensive. Hell, Sony are the ones that fucked up by insisting on developing their own in-house blue-ray, then they messed it p and had to start over, I'm not going to pay for their mistake. Sony should of bought blue-ray tech off a company that had already researched it, having one component that isnt your own in a product wont push prices up that much.

EH...I think Blu-ray is paying off for them. They own 75% of the publishers in the movie industry. 90% of the HD-players owned by the population of Japan is blu-ray. Blu-ray is taking UK quickly. The US has a very high percentage of Blu-ray owners, and the momentum is gaining and gaining across the globe. The problem was the former high competition of Toshiba. But now that that's coming to an end, the price of the Blu-ray player is drastically dropping.

You also have to understand that the PS3 has many more features than the Xbox, its a premium product fanboyism aside. The mistake I made was realizing this after I bought an xbox 360 (not starting anything here, but the PS3 has better games in my opinion *games that suit my play style*)

I'll do what I did with DVD - wait until its a realistic price. By the time that happens (real world time) DVD will be showing its limits. Currently there are plenty of ways to make DVD last, just like there was a software method created that allowed a CD-R \ RW to hold 1GB of data.

You also live in the US, the console is just cheaper over there regardless of currency and, afaik, you dont get screwed out of the PS2 hardware.

What are you talking about? There isn't a PS3 sold in the US that comes with PS2 hardware. The 80gb comes with an emulator, the same as yours. It works just fine and the majority of games work on it.

Even their old 60gb came with a emulator. So they pay double, for less hardware.

Maybe Sony could hold off on this for a while and lower the prices for both PS3's about $50 USD.

They PS3 was 599$...They brought the price down significantly. The PS3 has excellent hardware and many things the Xbox 360 doesn't have at all.

First people complained about 599$, now you're complaining about 50$. I mean come on, I'm not trying to be an ass but it's almost like you want something for nothing. :ohwell:

I'm a broke college student and really don't have all that much money. I set out for a goal of getting 600$ into my budget a long time ago, and I finally got there and they dropped the price. I couldn't have been more happy now I hear people all the time complaining that it's still to much...
