Whats a good TV tuner card under $50.00? I have a friend that wants to be able to record TV shows and I have no experience w/ TV cards. He has a dell w/ windows XP, a P4 ?ghz, 1 gig ram. I assume his computer will be able to run it fine?

honestly from what i have read of the reviews alot of cards have issues with this and or that, so its best to read up get about 3 picked out that fit your needs, then see which ones will work best if any at all... sorry pretty much useless but thats generally what i have seen on them..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2000380047+1148510222&Tpk=tv+tuner
sort lowest to highest would work best...

sorry i am of no help :/

The reason I asked was because of all the mixed reviews I have been reading....
Its been a pain the @ss

Its not that I don't know much, just having trouble finding an all around good tuner card.

Not much love has been given to the 650. I think it has to do with poor/missing support with MCE.

i personally use a Leadtek DTV2000 H
unfortunately, another over the price range (got mine for $90)
but it works fantastic in HD, can be set up to record on a schedule or just watch on a schedule.
has AV input & s-video input & can be switched to analogue (dont know y u'd want to!)
also has a FM radio built in (i dont use it at all) & comes with a remote that i can use to watch TV, DVD & MCE + it can be used to turn on ur PC (handy feature)
the software also has a tickbox to switch to "MCE Remote" to help the remote be more MCE friendly.
the EPG (electronic program guide) works fantastic & lets me easily schedule anything i wanna watch or record within the next week!

I am currently using this tuner on Vista 64 Ultimate & have tested it & it works fantastic with MCE
have also used it with Vista 32 with no problems at all.
hope this helped atleast someone!

I am not really trying to get something with amazing picture, just something that I can use to record tv while I am at work. I have an older leadtek tuner that works all right but it isn't compatible with MCE and it only has a analog tuner.

ok, my mate had an old 1 2 & it was analogue... didn't work all that well......
all i can suggest is look at some that come within ur price range then read some reviews... (i usually just google the item name & review ("DTV2000 H Review" etc)

hope it helps.
