Out of ideas. please help me (it wont boot)

So i was setting up raid again and everything was going fine. I boot the cd, try to install raid (floppy not found, arg, floppy's) get an error 0x0000007B!

So i thought, ok, it's probably my oc, i turn my computer off, reboot.....blank screen.

I reset the cmos by taking the battery out for more than 1 minute, stick it back in and nothing.....

Ok well maybe its my graphics card, stick in my old 7300gs and nothing.....

Run frantically around my house looking for a speaker to hook to the mobo and nothing.....

Take out ram to see if that was what happened and beep beeeep beep beeeep (mem error, duh no ram)

SO i am completly out of ideas.

Every thing turns on, all fans, all lights, ODD, HDD, but no screen!
PLEASE HELP!!!!

I have frequently had the whole system power up and not be able to get the monitor to power-up. But you were reconfiguing your RAID, so you might not have the RAID drivers installed. Do you have a single HDD that you could use?

If you want, you could try to switch DVI outputs before you power-up.

So you can't even access the BIOS?

Here's another fix that has been posted:

STEP1
- Turn off power, remove power cord
- Removed the battery
- Set the CLRTC jumper to 3-2 (Clear CMOS)
- Wait 15 seconds
- Set the CLRTC jumper to 2-1 (Initial position)
- Reinstall battery
- Plug powercord & Turn on computer
->Still no POST

STEP2
- Turn off power, remove power cord
- Remove ALL memory
- Plug powercord & Turn on computer
->Still no POST, but beeps indicating missing memory

STEP3
- Turn off power, remove power cord
- Put 1024MB DIMM into slot DIMM_A2
- Plug powercord & Turn on computer
- POST with "Overclocking error ..." error message ???, recover with F2

STEP4
- Turn off power, remove power cord
- Put ALL memory back as initially installed
- Plug powercord & Turn on computer
- POST successfull
- Reconfigure bios settings

Has exactly the same prob. Tried everything including different RAM. Eventually we accidently broke a sata plug off the mobo while changing drives. It worked after that......wtf.

Seriously, get it back running without RAID and then try again. i.e. one drive only.

that kind of problem is related to overheating, not enough power (as in, plugs arent in to mobo) or no CPU fan detected (common on 3rd party heatsinks)

it wasn't over heating, and the fan is plugged into the main boards cpu fan socket.

Here's another fix that has been posted:

STEP1

Also, just rememberd (i know, i know) When i had my hdd and fdd out, the fdd touched the hdd board and sparked. Could it have surged and damaged my mobo?

Since i bought it oem asus won't honor the warrenty either.

The spark you mention...well that may have been the end for the mobo. Sparks are never a good thing. Even if it was at best a static spark that could be bad...even worse if it was a grounding spark.

it was a grounded spark...i had the hdd sitting in the case and i picked up my fdd and i accidentally touched the hdd and it sparked, then the hdd goes click, click, click.

Im about to swap the procs in my computer and my dads. if that doesn't fix it. then its got to be the mobo.

your proc is probably (hopefully) fine. More then likely you fried the raid controller

Proc is fine, tested it and its a ok

sparks are bad. could be it. the clicking is the click of death, common for dead drives.

I burned one of the traces off the drive so im praying i can re trace the trace and it will be ok ( i had 35gb of school and music on it)

Do you have your bios on a floppy or usb stick?

What difference does it make? i can always download and stick it on a usb stick, but i don't know what good it would do.

if worst comes to worst, what mobo should i buy?

Have you tried unpluging the hard drive(s), optical drive(s), etc? Where exactly did the spark jump? The shell of the floppy drive to the shell of the hard drive? That should be grounded out.

In my hardware class, we had an interesting bit about ESD. It takes 1,500 volts to feel a spark, 6,000 volts to hear a spark and 8,000 volts to see a spark, but it only takes 10 volts to fry your hardware.

Wear an ESD bracelet next time.

I can't tell what stage you are at. But troubleshooting a non booting motherboard start with nothing plugged in and work forward.
So, step one
Only MB, PWR, CPU/FAN, VGA should be installed. No drives or anything else. Except a keyboard and monitor of course.
Move forward from there.

If that config does not boot, it is one of those items. From what you've said already iirc, either the MB is dead, or the MB BIOS is dead.

I dont mean to be rude, but i have done troubleshooting before and know the basics of it.

The first thing i tried was reset my bios.

The second was one stick of ram then the other,

third was no odd, or hdd. only gpu

fourth tried another gpu.

fith, tried a different proc.

So without being able to get a screen i cant flash my bios (that i know of)

error 0x0000007B is a driver issue(most likley RAID);http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324103

But could also be the HDD after your "spark" you may have corrupted the data.
