why only 3? Just to get a cool name?

I would have stuck 4 GPUs, used the same kind of cooling style as the 9800GTX, and clocked the nuts off the GPUs....

I have to say though, the fact it's only using a single 8-pin power connector says a lot. I would have expected a 6 and an 8 like the 2900.

The water cooler that ASUS using is clearly a Thermaltake unit. Notice the Quickconnect tubing connectors? and the 2 x 5 1/4" bay reservoir? Very similar to the Big Water 760i

Certainly though, if Asus could fit a lopsided 3 GPU's on a single card, why not go that extra mile and place a fourth MXM slot to accomodate (if the end user wants) a fourth RV670?

Neverless, "this is a KICKASS product" - Rod

Well, 4 probably could be possible, bigger PCB....3 only use a single 8-Pin, so....6 would use 2 connectors. Mmmmmmm, 6 GPU videocard:rolleyes:

how about 6 on a dual PCB 9800GX2 style?

for a total of 24GPUs in a spider setup

Am I wrong in thinking that pushing 4 gpu's into one PCIe slot would overall limit the card, rather than running 4 gpu's with 4 PCIe slots?

If so, then why pay more for one card with multi gpu's that is limited?

Just my limited knowledge working here..:p

yes and no - the GPUs would be limited in how much information they could swap across the BUS - but communication between the GPUs wouldn't be limited . . .

. . . if I'm not mistaken.

Anyhow - 3 GPUs on a 3850? :wtf: Odd card choice for that kind of a setup.

C'mon, ASUS! Put 3 on a 3870 and be done with it already!!

It's a mobile GPU, 3x with adapters to make it fit desktop computer. 3870 would be more power hungry give out more heat and I don't even know if there is such mobile chip.

It'll probably be more than a 3870X2, and perform worse....i think it will...

If you look closely, you'll see that the power supply is taking up the room where you 'could' put another card. I didn't realize they made mobile HD3850 cards.

The enthusiast in me says that is very interesting indeed,

The sensible person in me says what is the point of this over the most probably faster 9800GX2.

I just want to see the benchs, I think that is obvious why they made it with mobile versions and watercooling. That beast must have massive temps and needs alot of cooling, and of course mobile are smaller, easier to cool and need less power.
Looking at this right now whithout performance tested is worthless but if it is as simple as this:
If this beast cant kill an 9800gx2 than it is really a lost cause.

Anyway I just want to see the 4x3 gpu setup running. I doubt anyone can put all of that inside a common case or even get a motherboard with 8slots and 4 of them pcie2.0 at full speed and just thinking of this is giving me an headache because the driver unless they have really well optimized drivers for this.....

oh well I just hope all of this is possible so I can fall out of my chair and cry of joy.
just thinking in all of this..... well I lost my words.. no way to express.:banghead:
