Had to wait on funds to go into paypal, "debit card $$ per day limit".

Then this came up today, and it was the motherboard that I really wanted.

I hate my bank:)

So I just used paypal

It's my understanding that watercooling this board is optional.

I don't have the funds to buy another watercooling setup at this time:(

Unless I unhook the other machine, and drain it yet again.

Well, the Striker II with the 780i chipset is horribly unstable. Mine died after 1 day. I hope ASUS fixed the problems on this one

I would love to get this motherboard to go with my QX9650 and 2 8800GT's, but I dunno about the DDR3 prices right now. A little too much for my blood compared to the DDR2's.

I bought a 1333 2gig set for 130 dollars of newegg. I'm going to hold out till the faster ones come down in price.

Any ideas/predictions to when the DDR3 prices will go down? By this summer, I hope?

Well the more they make of it the cheaper it will get. All of the intel stuff looks to be going DDR3 so that will start to drop the prices.

I bet it will not be till around fall before the highend DDR3 starts to drop down to the 200 price range. But for now there are some DDR3 chips that are not that bad of a price.

Yeah, I've had problems with the 780i Striker also, RMA'd mine and I have asked to upgrade to a 790i Striker II, hopefully I'll be lucky. Reading the reviews, it seems like a very decent, stable board.

The more reviews I read about this motherboard, the more I like it. :) Any of you guys know if I can use the Zalman 9700 CPU cooler on this motherboard?

Well the key to cheaper DDR3 prices is actually is the 1600fsb CPU's which is why all 1600FSB ready boards are DDR3, we have the boards, just waiting for the CPU's, once they all start to hit the shelves, more people will be buying the memory so more will be produced and the prices will drop.

Sweet, can't wait to start seeing those price drops. I guess I'll be getting the Asus Striker II Extreme 790i Ultra myself and get some cheap 2x1GB DDR3-1066 sticks by Corsair for now.

Seeing as you and Wile have/are getting these QX's I think I am gonna get the E8500 and attack 2005 in SLi, there is little point in me getting a Q9550 and trying to compete in quad land with you two where as in 2005 it's just down to raw speed so I will concentrate on that mefinks......sound good?
