best 22 inch monitor

Get an old Samsung 216BW. 21.6" versus 22", and no bad panels like the 226BWs.

My 206bw doesn't have a label on the back but it says "AU" under the secret menu, so I assume that I got an "A" panel.

It still looks much better than my old value Viewsonic though!

your correct Samsung removed the label and hidden menu there is no way to tell which Panel you will receive and to make things worst this monitor is a couple years old so nobody will be doing any reviews, memory manufactures do this all the time they take a set budget kit and change the IC from Micron D9 to Elpida or ProMOS the problem is budget memory doesn't cost $300.

I recommend reading reviews on behardware they are experts on Displays right down to every nook and cranny.

Well unlike memory manufactures Samsung make some good and bad. They make a model from different plants and some plants are not as good as others. It's not if they stop making the best ones after a while like memory manufactures do.


To the original post whynot just use 16x12 or 16x10 res ?...


Only way to tell on a good one is to take it apart.

why do you say its bad for movies, i watch movies on mine all the time?!
and yea its a great gaming res imo

Its the gray scale on it that is completely messed up. Anything that's dark appears all grainy and splotchy. Plus, the backlight bleeds like crazy. These problems aren't too bad for games, but are terrible for movies.

IMO the LG226WTQ 22" in my system specs. 2ms and 3000:1 up to 5000:1 with DFC, good black colours, viewable great even from an angle, not one bad pixel. Lovely colours they were even better when I lowered the gamma.

Then be prepared to pay a premium. You won't find one for anywhere near $200 that's a reputable brand with good quality.

Sure about the glossy screen preference? Both my parents' notebooks got glossy screens, and if you notice all the reflections... it isn't nice at all.
At least in my opinion.
I suggest you sit down in front of a glossy screen and check it out before purchasing. Make sure you also check how the monitor looks when it's dark like during a movie scene or game, not just how it looks with a bright desktop background.
