NVIDIA Quietly Adds Quadro FX 4700 X2 2GB

NVIDIA has quietly updated its professional video cards with the new dual-GPU Quadro FX 4700 X2 PCI-E 2.0. Designed for CAD, DCC, and other visualization applications, the newest Quadro is SLI ready, has 256-bit memory interface, 2GB GDDR3 memory (1GB per GPU), and four dual-link DVI connectors for simultaneous work on up to four high-resolution displays. We only know that the card is powered by two DirectX 10/Shader Model 4.0 capable GPUs, but NVIDIA does not name whether these are G92 or G94 cores. The specifications page only hints at the card's power consumption during load - 226W.

Don't count on that. It's probably the 9800 GX2 model in Quadro, with slightly different PCB because of the four DVI connectors.

good point...but i was really referring to them using a single pcb instead of 2...but who knows for sure...?

They aren't using a single PCB here, it is still two PCBs.

Looks like a 9800 GX2 using a modified 7950 GX2 PCB design and layout - with longer PCBs and larger coolers. Also interesting that this card won't support 3-way SLI.

Yup, the card(s)' construction is similar to the 7950 GX2. Expect the GPU below the top PCB to bake well.
