pc freezes when palying games can u help??

lol... yup, I'd say a bootable version , and 2.0 if at all possible. Make a few (2-3) passes b4 you say its ok!

Just my 2 pennies worth tho, but its easy and free, also eliminates it as a suspect!

i cant get it to work, the progam that is....

I downloaded it, burnt it to disk, it said some of the information may be lost, i carried on, changed the boot sequence but it wouldnt load from the disk....

by the way Im running 2 2's, not 4 1's.

there is a windows version , but it is only for 1GB of ram per test, so you need to run 4 instances to test. Ive used both I prefer the DOS based , but the windows version will fail and turn red if there is an issue!

ran 4 instances without any fails.

ran 2 to 110%, ran 1 at 30% and 1 to 10% - the last one was going really slow.

lol it will go sorta slow. the DOS version is about 20mins. per GB of ram installed, just to give you an Idea.

Also I was told to run all 4 till 200% cleared. up to you tho. I would have assumed it to error by now!

just loaded cod4 up and it crashed after about 3 mins, but i managed to ctrl alt del it.

after it went to desktop, it went back into the game and it was fine until i stopped 5 mins later.

what bios version are you running on your P5K-E board... ?
(you can see this when you boot up)

there a new bios from the 29th april 2008... you save it to a USB stick , then reboot, go into bios and use the usb stick to flash it.
Try that as it has extended support for those new 45nm chips you are using... dont flash bios within windows though.

I say try your ram at 5-5-5-15, and see if it still does it. COD4 is very sensitive to instability. I can run other games, or 3DMark all day long with my cpu and ram bench OC settings, but the instant I fire up COD4, it crashes or BSODs.

+1 on that. CAS4 is pretty tight for 1066 usually. Also make sue your os is clear of extra driver and other assorted clutter.

already running 1013 the newest version, just re-installed it via the bios to see if it made any difference - it didnt.

found the solution, but its not really a solution if you know what i mean.

I have changed the ram to auto and so far so good, but using cpu-z its now only running at 400 instead of 533.

i suppose i could oc the cpu so its at 533

Which supports the theory that you had your ram clocked too high for CAS4. Put it back to 1066, but use CAS5.

it was never set at 4, if you look at the first post - i said it was set at 555-15.

its not really a solution because now i have ram thats set lower than it should and lower than the board can handle.....
