A 3850 256MB destroys a 8600GT. A single 3870 annihilates a 8600GT. :D

=o thats weird .. my 8600GTS 512mb gets about the same fps as a 3850 .. maybe the 3850 beats me in a few games by like 5fps but thats it =o and i know the 3870 beats the 8600GTS by a mile ;) but the 8600GTS is very cheap so its worth it

700/900 i get 5746 with a single 3850 256mb but it will do 860/1044 with a BIOS mod (i need to test score @ this)

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum Darth

But in order to say the 8600Gt is faster than the HD3850 you would also have to say the 8600GT is faster than the X1950XTX and equal 8800GTS(G80) which it is not.

Thank you very much guys. I dont know if flashing to an old bios can be a good idea. I have to read the bugfixes and changes in the bios versions. Because im using the 2 Raid controllers in the mobo. So if i downgrade the bios probably loose some RAID funtionality.

But i will investigate this issue further in order to decide upgrading or downloading bios.

My goal is 38 or 40 FPS in crysis at a good resolution with all settings in very high. Probably very difficult to achieve. But is not impossible.

Going to an older bios would improve your performance no question. As for the RAID issues I wouldn't know about that because I'm not using anything in RAID ATM. There are plenty of tweaked config files for Crysis that give you the best possible visuals with the highest framerates. Check out CryMod.com for the configs/tweaks. Here is a direct link to the tweaked config files: LINK :rockout:

Hopefully you get everything working properly. From experience I know anything newer than 1.13 Beta bios degrades performance due to the TLB fix/patch.

u must be joking.. he he he

just bear in mind its the setting not the resolution that makes the big difference in crysis.. no way are u gonna get 40 fps average on very high even at 800 x 600..

i can get 185 fps at 800 x 600 with very low settings.. but i wouldnt get an average of 40 at very high setting even at 800 x 600..

i also get 185 fps with just one card working at the very low settings..

but whatever u get its not the resolution its the settings.. the resolution makes a slight difference but not as much as the settings..

as for 2006... in essence its a bunch of single threaded game tests with a multi threaded cpu test.. the cpu test is a one off and wont differ with C/F as opposed to just one card..

2006 is very cpu speed limited.. nothing at 2.4 gig is gonna do that well in it.. including a quad core cpu..

Gotta get the TLB workaraound. That CPU is limited with the TLB engaged.

Well you are right. how much details you want to include in the image increasing game settings have more impact in the FPS mark than the resolution itself.

I Disabled the TLB and the video cards are runing crysis very well using very high settings and 1280x1024, AA 8x, Fullscreen and Vsync ON. I can see the game with no interruptions in the motion at all. I asume the cards will be outputing about 30 FPS on average.

I will tune better the cards and will post results here very soon

You could give yourself and even bigger boost by knocking AA down. And why the V-synch? Worried about tearing? What, is your refresh rate @ 30Hz?

yes any AA in crysis is a big frame hitter.. far better to move up a resolution.. 30 fps in the gpu bench dosnt make the game playable either.. i think 40 average is about the minimum to avoid big slow downs when the action happens..

without AA and with high not very high i might just get 40 fps with C/F.. i dont think any cards will get 40 fps average on very high..

i played the game with all settings on medium except textures and shaders which were on high.. it still became slide show near the end on the carrier deck.. the CF gain from one card isnt that great either..

your cpu isnt the problem with crysis just with 2006.. v-since wont affect things cos the frame rates wont be high enough for it to kick it..

i cant bench very high cos i only run XP.. i know it can be sort of run but i also know my machine aint up to it..

but its down to the individual.. i would far sooner get good fps and turn the settings down.. i dont really feel the need to max every game out.. crysis still looks impressive even when it isnt maxed out.. assuming its played and not to prove how good your machine is..

just for the record i just ran the crysis gpu bench at 1680 x 1050 no AA.. settings at high.. i scored just over 36 fps average with C/F.. cpu at 4 gig both cards clocked 850/1250..

What's that I hear...

...a positive comment on CF from trog100! *GACK* My heart!

Those numbers you got coincide with what I was getting as well. Now if you were to volt mod those cards....40FPS @ Very High is totally within reach.

Wanna try?

BTW, what Cat version are you using trog100? Has anything changed in regards to CF performance in The Witcher or Vegas using 8.5?

crysis is one of the few later games i see a smallish but noticeable frame rate increase in.. but i also see noticable shadow flickering.. but i played thru the game long ago.. its just a benchmark for me now..

i still dont need C/F.. all the current games play okay ay 1680 x 1050 with just one card.. C/F still stays switched off..

i still recon its a crock of sh-t..

i am still with the cat 8.2s.. i havnt tried the 8.5s.. as for witcher.. again its been played thru.. games dont last long for me.. the graphics in vegas are that dated half a 3870 would play that definitely no need or use for C/F..

i have just been playing half life 2... C/F works okay with that.. not as i really need 300 frames per second.. he he he

i played half life 2 that long ago i had forgotten it.. very dated but one hell of a long play time compared with newer stuff.. made me realize how short some of the new games are..

one newer game i aint tried C/F on yet is Two Worlds.. it plays okay with one card but out of curiosity i will see what a pigs ear C/F makes of it.. he he he

trog I have 2 3870 and at least on tf2 it makes alot of difference, sure non source games have a less benefit but god I can play hl2 ep2/tf2 at full settings almost(cant really because of my cpu), portal maxed out(indoor game). Crysis and cod4 got a great improvement too.
Dont be so sceptic with cf. Unless it is unstable it will run very well.
