Anyone with 790i experiencing freezing issues when SLI is enabled? Can not get anymore than 2-3 minutes into crysis when the whole system just freezes. Only a hard system reset will work? It's not a bad overclock on the CPU as I run stable on Orthos for 12hrs. Mild CPU overclock at the moment due to corruption issues with the 790i at high FSB.

CPU - 333FSB X9 (1.3125V)
MEM - 1333MHZ default timings manually set 9,9,9,24 (1.8V)
Everything else default and spread spectrum disabled.

Like I said its not the overclock, when SLI is disabled, Crysis runs fine.

Try increasing the northbridge voltage. It could just be that the extra traffic caused by running SLI mode is too much for stock voltage.

Will do that, have thought about it but I thought it should be fine at stock.

Nope, tried everything, this problem is everywhere on the net. Will have to wait whether a bios update will solve the issues or an improved chipset driver.

This problem is by far the biggest thread on Evga forums (almost 50 pages) all 7xx series boards are included... some do it, some don't. People are hoping a bios update will fix this. Considering it happens to only some boards (only some being an alarming number however) that this is looking more and more like a QS issue and they should do a formal recall on boards with the video locking. A lot of people are experiencing this without SLI and playing avi's, streaming video from the net, DVD playback... all cause this hard lock too.
EDIT: check it out... also non Evga MB 7xx owners have been posting here also, the problem is with the chipset
