3850 AGP OC'ing, Vmods, experiences, suggestions, where to buy

I get 5101 in 3dMark. 775 for the CPU score.
OC with RivaT 2.08

This includes 3850 AGP support as if it were "Hotfix".

My 3Dmark 06 scores jumped up around 150 pts.

Actual D/L size is ~ 150 MB not 250

I don't think we'll see the official release until the end of the month, I'll be surprised to see it released in the 2nd week tbh.

Could you paste a screeny of CCC with the Cat version number please?

I guess people are requesting the AGP fix backinto the Drivers, as it can be a pain to directlink to the hotfix when it times out after awhile. If they wanted to fix that problem theyd direct link to it from the Cat Download Page.

hi guys just want to say this is my first post and ran across your site while i was debateing buying the sapphire hd3850 agp card, and realy liked what i seen here, no bashing or stuff like there is at some of the sat sites i mod at, currently iam running 8.5 cat drivers but will try the beta 8.6 drivers and report back to you guys as to any gains, or pros cons, thanx Dragon

how are you finding things with the 8.5's? are you OC'ing? if so what proggies are you using to OC?

well i first used riva tuner to oc my card but realy could not see any huge gains once run through mark 05 or 06 , so at the moment i have it oc'ed through ccc at 720/950 and seen my best gains that way, iam no pro when it comes to overclocking graphic cards, but learning from reading other peoples posts i would like to try CBABE but still need to learn abit more about oc the cards bios like volts, etc. but iam going to try these 8.6 betas in abit and see how that works out, looks like we both like the old school setups lol thanx Dragon

what is this "CBABE" you speak of? is it a chik that OC's for you?

i tried to OC using ATiTool but it was un-cooperative so back to CCC i went, currently running 720/950 W/C with a maze5.

i'd like to mod my BIOS for more clocks/volts but i'm a n00b in that area and don't want to fuck up my card

CCC is holding us back, we're all at 720/950 - we need to get passed that. I don't like Tray Tools, Riva Tuner is best suited to nVIDIA cards and ATiTool doesn't work.



I haven't tried the supposed 8.6's as I'm still trying to fiddle with my motherboard, bloody thing doesn't like OC'ing at all. Not even with my DDR500.

cBabe is computer based ati radeon bios editor, if ya havent heard of it let me know and ill post it , i just finished with the 8.6 drivers wont be able to bench and test it out till later after supper, daughter wants to get on puter now but ill let ya guys know thanx Dragon

well checked and after installing 806 the info in ccc shows me that the driver package version is
8.50-080514a-064478e- ati and cat version is 08.5 is this different than the 8.5 version? seems odd it didnt change to cat version 8.6 can someone check there 8.5 version thanx Dragon

here is the cbabe application just load your hd3850 bios and oc away then use atwinflash to flash bios back to card

I cannot make it through setup with the recently posted beta drivers. It says it doesn't find any compatible hardware.

I'll have a butchers now that I think I have my rig sorted. I get my new HDD tomorrow so I'm tempted to do a reformat.

Not sure what - if any differences (other than the splash screen) - but it works good for me.

Yeah, so I was able to manually install just the driver... and I was able to go to the CCC folder and run that setup... but why won't the regular setup installation work?

I'd like to be able to run the regular setup start to finish.

Seem like good drivers so far.
