Maybe the free version is different than the one you buy from a shop ?. As i know for a fact just the windows folder it's self was 12GB when i installed it without using vLite.

Maybe i'll bring this up in a separate post later. Some things telling me that the free version is different.

On mine there is 605 Files \111 Folders
Total 3.56GB
This is the X64 version though Maybe the Ultimate version has more files than yours ?.

But anyways either you make a post about it or i will over the next few days hopefully. Fact is were both right and own different versions + i think mine include all versions which i am not 100% sure just going by what vLite says unless it just a option.

I wasn't aware that there was a "free" version. That's a complete install of Windows Vista Ultimate within a VirtualPC VM. That came from a Dell installation DVD, which if anything should be "more bloated" with extra Dell garbage. It had all the bells and whistles that Ultimate comes with.

Oh, it's grossly similar in size to a fresh Windows Vista Business install off of an ISO downloaded directly from Microsoft's VLA website.

Not sure where you are coming with the "different versions" story. I'm talking about an official Microsoft installation here and not some mucked up (possibly pirated) install that you have. Nothing from Microsoft is free unless it is pirated. Hopefully this will discourage you from anymore "umm, no" comments in the future as well.

Edit - Just to satisfy more curiousity, here's a fresh install of Windows Vista Business 32-bit with proof of how much storage space is used after installation.

Do the math and that's 6GB. Not sure if you are aware of the differences between Business and Ultimate but there aren't many. Some simple games, BitLocker and Windows Media Center. This install is from the official ISO off of Microsoft's VLA website as well.

Anymore comments you'd like to add? :wtf:

Maybe yours is small with it being a upgrade ?.. Anyways here's the thread as this is not the right place for this.
