take it out of the case, and sit it on something soft such as a towel. If the noise goes away, its just a crap mounting in the case. If its clicking and shaking when its not meant to be doing anything, then its probably dying.

yeah, double check if it's bad mounting, if not, back up your stuff and replace it before it dies on you.

If it sounds like LOAD"" then its probably dead already. Dont turn off the PC. Back up now!

I had a noisy 160gb seagate barracuda 7200.7 ST3160023AS, it had always been noisy since it was new, I used it for about 3 years, maybe it was just the design of this older disk?

It still works fine actually but I prefer a silent pc...

Anyways since I use Vista I replaced my old 160gb sata and 1 7200.7 40gb sata for a new 7200.10 80gb sata2 and a 7200.10 250gb seagate sata2, WOW what a difference:twitch::)

One quick question to gigabyte board owners: would there be any advantage connecting the hdd's to the purple colored "gigabyte sata2" ports? I'm have the hdd's connected to the orange colored now.
