Shouldn't be a problem with your system specs but I would recommend a 3870, especially the Sapphire 3870 single slot. Not much more than a 3850 and right now newegg has a good deal on them: $129 after $20 mail-in rebate, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102719. Mail-in rebate is going on til 6/17/08.

I bought a 512mb Sapphire HD3850 last week. Without any additional tweaking, works on HD3870 freqs, both for core and for mem. No overheating, no artifacts, nothing, and that is on 350W PSU, which I still find it a little hard to believe myself...
I'd say you'll make a great deal with such a card. Ain't the fastest thing on the planet, but with this OC, low power consumption, and price... Well - it kicks ass :))
