Arctic silver 5 takes about 200 hours to cure properly, when I switched from properly cured AS5 to MX-2 I only saw temp drops of about 1c, but considering it was immediate, I was happy.

That is the one, although you have you be careful as it eats through either copper or aluminum, someone who knows more can answer that question more specifically.

MX-2 is the best stuff around since, well... AS5! Sinced I switched from AS5 to MX-2 I haven't looked back. Easy to apply, perfromance is good, and easy to clean up.

yes it corrodes aluminum rather easily, copper heatsinks are fine, but im not sure about nickel

correct me if i'm wrong but it seem's like arctic cooling took the best propertie's of ceramique/AS5 and combined them to make MX-2 :confused:

i currently use AS5 but i'll be getting MX-2 next time around

MX-2 doesn't have silver in it but it does seem like it took some from the ceramique

Sorry about that i was talking on the phone when i read your post. :toast:

All i know is it spreads like the ceramique and isn't conductive like it. Not too sure about AS5 but all i care about is the MX-2 is a damn good thermal paste

Arctic Cooling MX-2, for a couple of reasons:

1) It's the best price/performance compound you can find
2) It outperforms AS5 in most of the cases (she has the throne since years ago though)
3) It's non-conductive so you can be safe if accidentally you leave a lil drop over your motherboard or other components.
4) Doesn't requires a full-load-cycle to achieve the maximum thermal performance.
5) It doesn't dries so the performance should be the same since the day you apply it till the day you decide to change it.

I'm using MX-2 since february ... and all i can say is this compound simply rocks :toast:

May as well add "OCZ FreeZe" into the mix. Performs at the top end like the mx-2 and noctua pastes. Easier to apply then ceramique I was using before it.

Agreed MX-2 is the easiest and best of all. However, if you can get it, Cool Laboratory Pro Liquid compound (very conductive though, but also the best) or IC Diamond Carat 7 are better. The diamond one isnt conductive, but in most tests it only barely edges out the MX-2.
