Hello
I cannot seem to break 2.99GHZ on my q6700 no matter what I do. I have unlinked the memory and kept it at stock 800 mhz, even pushed it down to 667 but my FSB will not allow my computer to even start when I try to push it past 1198 MHZ no matter what the CPU multiplier or the voltage. I would really like to push this up to 3.2 GHZ at least. Any help would be much appreciated.

It won't post, it's a bad OC according to the mobo. It just kinda turns my monitor to sleep and does nothing and i have to reset the CMOS to get a visual...

I just tried with the RAM lowered to 667MHZ and linked it and upped the RAM voltage to 2.0 and the cpu to 1.4v and still..couldn't even post at 1205 MHZ FSB

Qx6700 Oc

Hi mate, I'm new to the world of forums, just one thing I have done to reach 3.25Ghz was bump the voltage to 1.5v and raised the FSB to 1300. I know that the voltage sounds high but everything is running fine with my system. The only problem is the heat. :)

You should not need to go beyond 1.4V to get there, you may need to raise both your NB and FSB voltage by an increment though if you havent already.

i have mine running at 3.5 Ghz rock stable with Asus P5K mobo . i bumped my Vcore to 1.55 in bios but it is just 1.38 after Vdrop.

Getting your Q6700 to 3.2GHz should be a piece of cake (mine can run with Vcore 1.4v), its only above 3.2Ghz that fine skills come in.

tried upping the cpu voltage and fsb and nb and mem....still nothing...nothing at all...it's running so very stable at 2.99 GHZ right now...45C at max load...i dunno why it won't even push another 100MHZ even...

I used to run a 680i board with a Q6700. Although it would appear unnecessary at such low FSB, I found better stability by increasing CPU VTT. As far as I can tell, this should not be necessary until FSB gets to 400 or more but you never know - worked for me.

Being newer, your board may have GTL voltage adjustment. This is more effective than raising vtt. You could try bumping either or both of them (there are probably two GTL voltages) up a little to see how you go.

I now have a X48 board and it runs the FSB at 333 with everything on auto except vcore:D

750i is known to have Northbridge heat issues because of the high volts required for FSB increases but only when I use quads. I have two 750i boards and both have this issue on quads.

My Q6700 is running at 3.2 ghz with +87.5mv extra CPU voltage, CPUz reads 1.36v under load. 1.5v sounds VERY high to me, especially as you mention high temps. Go easy bud!!

Thing is...I don't have to worry about high temps or anything like that....the computer idles and doesn't even post for anything over 1198 on the FSB...no matter WHAT voltage i seem to put in...
