Today my computer just randomly shut off and when i turned it back on the first 2 DIMM slots stopped working. Did my DIMM slots die or is there something i can do about this? I tried clearing the CMOS already.

Download memtest and check each stick of ram in all the slots (or maybe just the 2 sticks that were using the slots in each slot) could either be bad ram or bad slots.

Ok, I tested each stick in my two slots that work and it seems all of the sticks still work.

So I decided to put the ram back in the first two slots to see if anything would happen, and now it is reading all of my ram. ???!!??! can somone please tell me what could have happened to make my first two dimm slots temporarily stop working?

Could have been a bunch of things, I've had a PC randomly not boot, then pulled it apart, rebuilt it, and it worked fine, one of the sad things about technology, can be picky.

I agree. I had an ABIT that would just lose my TV tuner. If I changed the ram brand , booted, then replaced with old sticks , it would show back up!
