Are you sure you didn't bend a pin on the X2 3800+?

I have this mobo. It took me awhile to get it up and running, but once I did I was happy. First thing you want to do: unplug the power and remove the CMOS battery for about 5 minutes. And set the jumpers to clear the BIOS at the same time, just for good measure :D

vcard? memory? power supply?

try a different vid card or try your vcard in a friends computer.also try some different memory if you have any.try booting without memory in, and see if you get a beep error.check and see if you have all you power connections connected...CPU,mobo etc.you could also try a differnt power supply just to rule that out,but it just may boil down to bad mobo.

CPU's rarely just break, they do extensive stress tests on them before packaging them up. Your symptoms sound like a DOA board.

Also could be the board needs a bios update to work with an X2... This is most likely IMO. Maybe you can borrow a single core a64 from a friend?

there is a bios upgrade that will fix the cold boot issue, which sounds like what you are experiencing the new bios is ver. 1.20

thanks for the help, but all i have is my wife laptop when i can use it,
the reason i got this new cpu is because my old comp broke on me,
im just going to return both to newegg for exchange i think,im wondering if i should just get a differnt mb,
only reason i got this mb was to keep my old agp,im not ready to go pci express,
i may not have a choice now,
