Hi, I need help with this memory TWIN3X4096-1600C7DHX on a 790i ultra. The memory runs well with vista ultimate 64bits sp1 when the speed is the default. When I set the memory in 1600mhz 7-7-7-20 2t and 1.9v in the bios the system starts normally but windows can't run.:banghead: It stops when is loading files. Thanks for your help.

I believe you will have to set it manually in the bios.

Get memtest on a bootable CD and then run it.

I downloaded this Memtest86+ V2.01 (21/02/2008)Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip) and I tried to save this on a CDRW but when I enter in the CD there is nothing and don't boots (starts windows):banghead::banghead:. I'm doing something wrong.

You need to change boot priority to boot from cd first in the bios.

Oh, did you create an iso on the disc, you can use something like isorecorder. Can't just burn an .iso onto a disc, well you can, but you have to create an image for it to work properly.

I need to do the test at 1333 (default speed) or only when I set the memory at 1600? And this program does not support quad-core?

When I set the timings manually I put 7-7-7-20 but when I reboot my computer appears 8-7-7-20. Why? I set this in mode unlinked 1600mhz 7-7-7-20 2timings and 1.9v.

And finally when memory is set at 1600 memtest report to me more than 9000 errors and then crashes.

You should be running it at 1600MHz. If memtest is giving you errors at 1600MHz, then something is unstable.

It could be that you got a bad set of memory. However, you also have to consider that the 790i is not rated to run 1600MHz, it is realy only rated to run 1333MHz memory. So you might try adding some voltage to the chipset and see if that helps it run the faster memory.

Hi, thanks for your reply, but I have the 790i Ultra. The standard 790i SLI can handle DDR3 memory up to 1333MHz while the Ultra can support memory speeds up to 2000MHz. I think the problem is that the memory are set at 8-7-7-20 instead its correct value of 7-7-7-20. What do you think about this? In the bios I put 7-7-7-20.

Loosen the timings...maybe 9-9-9-24 2t? Also, as newtekie1 suggested, bump up the Northbridge voltage on the mobo. You can go higher on the RAM voltage - around 2.1 - as well.

Sorry but I don't want to do OC in the Northbridge. And I'm not doing OC in this memory. 7-7-7-20 1600mhz and 1.9v is this correct value. The only problem is that this memory don't come with EPP and I need to set this values manually. But I don't want to overclock any component.

Sorry... I didn't read your first post. In another post, you mentioned the "default" value being 1333, which lead me to believe you were trying to OC. :slap:

Okay well that is like buying a 500 Horsepower engine and putting in your car but saying "I don't want to run bigger fuel lines and a more powerful fuel pump... and I don't want to increase the cooling capacity... and I'm not going to increase the travel of the throttle linkage. I just want to put the motor in and I want it to make 500 horsepower with my car exactly as it is!!!"

Look, your memory might be capable of running those specs, but it might not be able to do it with your current hardware/bios configuration. You might have to bump up the voltages a bit because what the BIOS is set at and what the MB is actually delivering might be off by more than you think.

I'm not saying this will or will not fix your problem, but don't go shutting down advice and expecting someone to pull some miracle solution out of www land for you.

It's also possible that your other hardware simply isn't going to play nice with that particular memory. Heck, I've got four sticks of supposedly 1200MHz DDR2 sitting right here in front of me that I could never get past 950MHz no matter what voltage I threw at it... and I've got pretty high end stuff in my system. But the funny thing is that now I've got 1066MHz memory in the system purring like a kitten at 1170Mhz. Point is... sometimes these things work better than expected... some times they flunk royally.

Hi, my computer is new and I bought the components to fit well without oc.
My system spects: QX9770, 790I ULTRA (Default FSB 1600mhz), SLI 8800 ultra, X-Fi Fatal1ty, Raid 0 raptor X and seagate 1 TB 32mb, PSU NZXT Precise 1200w, Vista ultimate 64bits SP1.

And before I buy the memory I asked to Corsair and other people for the compatibility. Thanks for your reply but I think all the voltages are correct for support this memory at 1600. I'm going to talk with Corsair about this. Thanks.

Hmm... ok well that was a lot of good information that would have been useful in the original post. With that said, I think your on the right track with contacting Corsair. Hopefully they will be able to get you up to speed (pun intended :D).

BTW... heck of a system you built there. What brand MB did you get?

I'm going to test each module separately with memtest. I have the modules on the black sockets of this MB. Are this sockets correct for this memory? Thanks.

My MB is from EVGA. Thank you!

Go here and ask the question the RAM GUY is very helpful http://www.asktheramguy.com/v3/forumdisplay.php?f=132

Also what bios version are you running on the 790 Mobo P05 or P06??????????

And are you using the black slots (2 and 4)????

1600mhz 7-7-7-20 2t and 1.9v try it at 9-9-9-24 2T 1.8V

Yes, I'm talking about this with RAM GUY. But a moment ago a friend told me it sounds as if I were using an old Bios. I looked it I'm using the next version: 15-2-2008. Is this the P02? Anyway he told me this is a very old version. I'm going to install the P05 because for my friend this are best than the P06. Sorry, I didn't know anything about updates to the bios. I have the bios that came with the motherboard. I think this is the problem, thank you.

Yes I'm using the black slots.

Ok just update the bios to P05 from evga that will fix it for you.

set you voltage for your ram to 1.8 and timing to 9-9-9-24 2T 1.8V unlink mem and set to 1600 expert mode leave P1 and P2 in auto. boot system and if stable set ram to specs 7-7-7-20 2t
Also if you plan to OC then follow these settings http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=2924728&postcount=4
