use 8.7 lol, an oced 4850 on 8.7 should be faster than a non oc'd 4850 on 8.8

and now to see if Half Life 2 works lol

u can use overdrive to oc tho, but 8.8 should be better becos last time, the 8.7 beta driver was pretty high in 3dmark vantage, but having the same prob where u cant oc lolz.

I tried to use the auto tune O/C function with 8.8 and it went to blue screen after first 5 Mhz increase. I have the diamond 4850...

I just did a uninstall using ATI's driver cleaner... now the CCC won't recongize the 8.8 driver and I lose all powerplay functions. The CCC reports "The feathers in ATI Catalyst COntrol Center do not support the currently active graphics processor" :banghead:

somethings wrong with the vista 32 bit package:

The download link for the "Catalyst Software Suite (32 bit) English Only" (whole package) only points to the CCC installer with out DD

Seems you need to download the DD separately.

To me it looks like these 8.8's are a bit chaotic and too rough to be released to the public.
I personally don't think those bad OC/BIOSoc experiences are a deliberate attempt of ATI to mess things up at this point, I think it's a bug in these drivers or its installer.

I had no problems whatsoever with this driver. All my benching scores increased with noticable framerate increases. GRID, Combat Arms, TF2, FarCry, Crysis, Vantage, 3d06, etc. all got a bump in performance for me. I actually got my 4870 to 865/1040 for a Vantage run with no problems and most likely can squeeze more out of the card.

ccc would not do the auto tune oc on my card with the 8.7,it ran fine on 8.8.That say to me that this driver is an improvment over 8.7.

scores gone up to 17140 about 400 points up on 8.7's driver in 3dmark 06.
SO happy with that but furmark has nearly halved bizzarly!

Funny one in a ironic way - Driver + CCP give a lot of problems to a lot of people with v8.8, yet Driver + ATT works fine.

Has anyone noticed big decreases in Fur benchmark going from 8.7 to 8.8. If you check my scores, and also dipsta PMed me mentioning that he had noticed similar results, they are about cut in half with the new 8.8 drivers.
