Scythe Co., Ltd announces the space saving Hard Disk mounter in 5.25" Bay, "Hard Disk Stabilizer x4", to the market. Are you lacking of space to mount more Hard Disk into your PC case? This item makes it possible to mount up to 4 x Hard Disks into the space of 3 x 5.25inch bay! Not only the space saving feature, but also this item can provide an important job to prevent vibration transfer from your Hard Disk to the PC case. There is no need to explain in details, but just by looking at the product image, the item explains the features itself! At the same time, Scythe also offers the "Hard Disk Stabilizer 2" as the current product line-ups for preventing the vibration transfer as well as to mount the extra Hard Disk onto 5.25inch bay for a single Hard Disk mounting purposes. For this alternative product, please go to the product page.

The stabilizer kit spans 15.5 mm x 20mm / 0.61in x 0.79in (Diameter x Length of Anti-Vibration Screw) and fits into a standard 5.25" Bay. The kit consists of anti-vibration screws and mounting plate.

Surely the picture should be from this page?

Those rubber thingies have been on the market for years. They might have added number 2 in the end, but I don't see anything new about it :)

That x4 thing on the other hand is kinda interesting. Single HDD vibration mounts cost too much for multiple HDDs, but that one probably is less than two of those stabilizers. Edit: infact if the price is right I'm buying one of those. I like my ziptie patent, but 2 HDDs with it takes about 6 5.25” Bays :)

this is nothing new - there a 'drive caddys' or hot swappable drive bays that sit in then 5.25” Bay that do exactly the same thing & most of them also include a little small whiney cooling fan.

All this is is a more 'compact' approach but there are some scenarios that will benefit from products like these. for instance if the pump to your water cooler needs to go inside your case. probably a rare issue by todays standards but its still happend to me before. I use to own a an Asetek water cooling kit & it was ok asside from the water pump had to be housed inside the case & I didnt have any room for it at the bottom of my case. ended up ripping out some of the hard drive clips so i could place the pump under the hard drives.

OK, they added 2 plates there, this is the version that's been out for years.

But you still have wrong pictures in the news. Topic is about the x4 product.

EDIT: added to right image to my second post. Point I'm trying to make those pictures show on the main page and they don't go together with the story. At least add the right pictures there as well, they should be first.

Wont them drives cook in tha x4? they seem very close to each other.Even with a fan in front of them theres not much space for the air to pass between the discs.

Nice price, sure hope it's as low in Europe as well.

Not any more than in other 4 HDDs in 3 slots solutions. I wouldn't but hot running disks there though :) And you can always put less there, if heat goes up too much.

Agreed, two in the middle would be cooked

Yeah was thinking the same. i put 2 HDD's on each other and they were dam hot. Best way is to get a better case.

All though looks kinda cool for putting 2 HDD's in lol. Maybe even 3 if you could get a decent amount of space.

I bet it will still provide better cooling than when I had my three discs stacked on top of each other with only anti-stack foam in-between and suspended by elastic to eliminate all vibration transfer to case. It worked, but it was waaaay too hot, and I could still hear the hdd's anyways. I'm convinced that the only way to eliminate all noise from a drive is to cover the whole damn thing with thick foam and suspend it . . . but then it would fry. Alternatively, you could try sealing the whole case with thick foam/dampening, but then all your shit would probably fry as well unless you had liquid going over everything . . . hrm, I think I actually did see an hdd waterblock of sorts once
