Hey guys.

I have bought a new sound card and I wish to use EAX HD 4.0 for CIV4 but it won't work.
I can only imagine its something to do with Windows Vista!

Is there anything I can do to make it work? Or do I just have to wait?

you can use alchemy universal. You can google for it, or PM me an email address and i'll send it to you.

Edit: which may not even work, as you claim to have realtek audio which only supports EAX 2.0
EAX 4.0 was a feature of the Audigy and X-fi series cards.

If you have an x-fail,forget eax 4.alchemy does not even seem to make a differance anyway,so i ditched the x-fail and its fine now on my onboard now.

He said he bough a new card, maybe didn't change his specs. :) Alchemy should do just fine, not as simple as with XP (ussing DS) but it's possible. Some on-board cards are pretty good, other suck big time. Then again some people can't hear the difference between a losses .wav and a 128 kb .mp3 - for theme is the sense. We're all different you know, if we were all the same they wouldn't make specific products or better alternatives since one would be good for all. :shadedshu

I bought the Auzentech Prelude 7.1 X-fi.
I tried to Alchemy but that did'nt help one little bit.

I guess I gotta wait for proper vista support.

if you have any of the X-Fi series card download ALchemy and this will enable hardware support for EAX in Direct X games in Vista. For any openAL games you do not need the ALchemy - they will work right away in Vista and audio will be processed in sound card hardware.

What sound card did you buy?

EDIT: I started replying before you posted that :)

Do you mean that EAX settings are greyed out in Vista? What games do you talk about?
