ASUS sound card

I need to get a sound card, any advantage in using a ASUS card on a ASUS mobo? I doubt it but it never hurts to ask.

no advantages really, but the xonars are fine cards, id have that over a creative one

That's true, since you have Vista the Creative's EAX is pretty useless for gaming. I personaly own Creative X-FI XM but Vista has no DS, and emulating EAX by Alchemy is pretty useless. I've tried different games and that sound was worst with EAX then without it, no extra EAX effects but less (no more footsteps, no more rain drop) and some games crash because of that.

As for Music, with Creative ASIO is ok for that, but on that level even ASUS Xonar is a good alternative. And yes, there will be an advantage - but some people can't hear the difference. So it's all up to that: having sensitive ears to hear the difference - some have extremely sensitive ears and they're called audiophiles.
