From what I have seen even the plain jane 260 cards will overclock past the OC versions of the cards. However, as is always the case YMMV. I think Tatty's Gainward card is a vanilla version and he has some of the highest clocks around.

My XFX XXX version was factory clocked at 640/1363/2304 (core/shader/mem) vs stock 576/1242/2000 but I still managed to get the clocks up to 756/1512/2500 stable.

From what I can see the ASUS TOP card is at 650 core and 2300 on memory. I am almost positive you will hit at least those numbers with a vanilla card. IMHO of course.

Am going to try a 2006 deathrun tonight to see what she can really do, then the cards for sale if anyones interested!

And "Ein Prosit" to you too :toast:

My card is set to 1.03V in 2D (see attachment) but I never really paid attention to the temps in 2D since my card is pretty much folding all the time when it isn't gaming.

Interesting that Leadtek set yours to 1.11V for 2D though

You can always flash it to 1.03V if it is worrying you.

You probably will want to set your fan up to 60-80% if you plan on doing any overclocking. That can be set in the BIOS too.

:toast: O zapf't is

Yes it's worrying me. But I don't know why Leadtek has set my Card to 1.11V in 2d, there are a few cards from Leadtek in the market with 1.11V.

Its bothers me because I'm working most of the time in 2d. Do you think after a flash the card will work with 1,03V?

I don't see why not. In 2D mode they scale the clocks waaaay back on the core and memory so I expect it doesn't require much voltage to run. And if Leadtek is just using the NVidia reference design then lot's of other manufacturers are using 1.03V.

If you do decide to flash make sure you backup your original BIOS in case you need to set it back.

A small improvement, upto 21,565 now, funny thing is, I still think there is more to come from this GPU, at 1590 shaders I might just be able to get near to 790mhz on the core

Congrats :toast:

So do you think you can get any more out of your memory? Mine is stable at 1250 (2500) and I have not yet found the top end. Not sure how much difference it makes in the benches however.

I have never actually tried to go above 1200, the memory speed makes very little difference but next time I try a run I will raise it a bit to see what she can do.

Broke the 22,000 barrier with my little 260, this was a deathrun I dont think that there is anymore to give on this GPU, certainly not on air!

Thanks, the quad will actually do more, have not tried a 4.5gig run but she seems fine at that speed, just very wary of putting too many volts through these 45nm chips, I kinda like this one so I wanna keep it!

Goddamn!!! ;)

Just got my ASUS ENGTX260/HTDP 896MB and it's a GODDAMN good card.

But, some overclocking is needed if u want Crysis to run smood on High @ 1680*1050 ;)

here are my results...

GPU Core Clock: 730 | Shader Clock: 1480 | Memory Clock: 1200 | Temp ~64c | Fan speed: ~2310RPM | Artifacts scan for ~10min (Success)

I also wounder when pushing these cards to the limit with these instantly high clock speed how does it affect the lifespan of the graphic card, is heat the only thing one should be concerned about?

Other info, voltages

Just installed my 260-216. Seems to be pretty decent. I hope after it burns in for a while that I can go to the 1566 mark on the shaders but I'm not counting on it. For most of these cards 1512 is still the limit. This card runs very cool. During 3dm06 it only got to 53 degrees. I never got my other 260 or 280 to run that cool even after taking them apart and applying AS5 and MX2. I don't think I'm going to take this one apart.

Just a quick post...I just happened to notice that my EVGA GTX260 Core216 runs at 1.06v for 3D and Extra modes. So far the card is very stable at stock clocks, and I have yet to OC, just turned fan up to 80%.

It's not kicking down to 3D or 2D/Idle mode for some reason...prolly a driver glitch, I decided to stick with 177.83's for now.

More to come tomorrow after work when I get some time to investiage tho...but here's the layout:
Extra: 1.06v
3d: 1.06v
Thrtl: Blank
2D: 1.05v

I also noticed in the drop-down menu that the voltage options are different:
1.05v, 1.06v, 1.12v, and finally 1.15v...no more 1.18v??? WTF is up? WTH is going on? Time to investigate folks! Anyone with 260/216's please post up!

More to come...

Do you really gain much by unlinking gpu clock and shader clock?

Overclocking not working anymore!!!???

WTF happend, after installing NVIDIA System Tools with ESA Support i cant overclock anymore not at all... i removed this crap and did a system restore but still i cant overclock at all what have happend??????

Puuuuuh... all i had todo was to start some 3D app so that it automatically changed from low 2D clocks to Extra (3D Clocks) after that overclocking was possible again :)

Very nice indeed! How does it compare in 2006 at the same clock speeds as the origional standard 260....are you able to make a performance comparison yet?

It does not have to say 1.18 though for you to input it of course, if the voltage set remains the same as the old card and it's not now hardware limited to 1.15v then it will still work, my old 8800GT did not have the 1.1v option, it just sat at 1.05v but as I knew the limiter on the board was to 1.1V I just put it in as "extra".

Dodgy stuff that NTune, un-install your forceware drivers and re-install them, NTune plays with driver instruction sets!

Wow, all of your voltages are higher...this is interesting to say the least. I've still got about 4-5 hours of work left before I can dig into this deal.

Whether or not it's dependant on cards, mfg's, maybe "cherry" picked or not, who really knows. I'm curious at the OC-ability of my new card with extra shaders at 1.06v compared to my old card with fewer shaders at 1.12v for sure. We'll find out soon enough!

Very nice indeed! How does it compare in 2006 at the same clock speeds as the origional standard 260....are you able to make a performance comparison yet?

The new card tests a little faster than my old one but not really much. I think its going to get faster as it wears in or I decide to do some mods. I really like the 260s. I got this card to play with until the new 280s come out. I almost bought a 280 FTW a couple of weeks ago but then all the talk started about the new ones.

I thought I did 17600 in 3dmark06 with the old card but couldn't find it. This is close and a good comparison except the shaders a a notch higher.

I hear what you are saying about the current 280's, I'm in the mood to get something, just sold my brand new warranty returned 790i ultra so have some cash, just think that I would be dissapointed in the 280 in as much as I am guessing there would actually be little noticeable difference overclocked as they dont seem to clock as well as most of these 260's, now if I could find a 280 that would do at least 770 on the core, then that would be a bit different!

Any idea when these uprated 55nm 280's are speculated at hitting shelves?
