Get on to General Nonsense in a Snap!
 

Dear community members,

We have just finished work on a brand new feature that lets registered members of TechPowerUp forums create their profile on our sister site GeneralNonsense.net in a snap.

Early last year, we decided to spin off the "General Nonsense" forum on TechPowerUp Forums to create GeneralNonsense.net, a community with a broader scope for TPU members to socialize. However, many TPU regulars complained that creating a new account there was a cumbersome process.

The new feature lets you create an account at GeneralNonsense.net using your existing TPU credentials a piece of cake:

1. Be sure to log on to TPU.

2. Visit http://generalnonsense.net/ . You will see this yellow overhead information bar:

3. Click it, enter your TPU password, click on "Submit query":

The whole process takes as little as 10 seconds (or one lolcat's load time on a 56K line).

works fine in chrome, are you logged in to tpu forums, not logged in at gn forums and there is no account at gn forums by the name of n-ster ?

Pray tell, what is the business model of generalnonsense.net? Didnt see any ads (yet).

Just did the link and it works under IE6. So now you've got another member count :)

BUT wow that is scarey on the security front. Credentials collection from one site to another and then just asking for password... and hey presto! Username and password captured :)

It doubt it costs that much, the ads from TPU help support it. There is no business model other than to support Techpowerup forums by providing a place for members to socialize.

would be nice to have a option to merge the tpu login with gn

Just use the same e-mail address and password for both sites? You can change them in UserCP. That's all this does. :p
