Everybody is talking about the Radeon HD 5570 but... Radeon HD 5550? I haven't heard anything about this card? The specs given on powercolor's site are a bit sparse? Anybody have any more information on this?

It's based on the Redwood GPU. 400 stream processors, 128-bit wide memory interface, but uses DDR2 memory, and has lower clock speeds than HD 5570.

Thanks for the info, but why isn't anybody else announcing 5550s other than Powercolor?

The 5550 doesn't seem to fill a usefull gap to me. Using DDR2, while there is an available 5450 with DDR3 at such a close price point makes me wonder if there are 2 many cards with extremely similar performance capabilities

Indeed, as it is the the 5450 beats out the G 210, the 5570 neatly beats out of the GT 220 and the 5670 beats out the 9600 GSO and 9600 GT, yet we don't really having anything between the 5750 and the 5670 which is a much bigger gap performance gap that needs filling than between the 5570, 5550 and 5450.

Interesting that they have an LP 5570 but not an LP 5550. I would almost think, if anything, that it would be the other way around.
