very nice laptop, whats the conversion for ATI's M GPUs?
I know Nvidias are no were close to what they name them after, is ATI the same?
Also I have read driver support for M cards is very bad on both sides, is it still?

ATIs mobile cards are pretty much the same with the desktop versions, though somewhat cut down a little bit, at least the older ones were like that. That is until the 4xxx line (somewhat) the new 5870 Mobile is as I said new, so I am not sure what might have changed from the desktop version, aside from perhaps power consumption. Looks to be an awesome computer with the latest i7 Mobile processor.

use Mobility Modder the ATi version is stable, but the Nvidia one is still in Beta.

thats the best & the easiest way to keep no longer supported cards supported (in a sence)

for instance - ATi long stopped supporting my ATi X1600MR so I downloaded mobility modder & modded desktop drivers to install on mobility cards. it works great. not had an issue with it since.

Yeah, but who wants a ~180w chip inside their laptop?

I assume this is the mobile equivelant to a P55 i7? I mean why bill it as an i7 then add 8GB of ram?

In any case - at 17.3 mobility isn't this 'laptops' greatest asset - it probably definitely weighs in at over 3.2-3.4Kg which would make this more of a desktop replacement rather then something you would carry around with you everywhere & operate from wherever you can (on your lap conditions)
