Looking For New Power Supply
I had a 750W Thermaltake power supply that just died on me and I wanted to get some opinions on what I should get for a replacement. I think 750W was probably a little overkill for the system I've had since 07'.
My Specs: Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 Proc: AMD 5200+ Video: Geforce GTS 250 (had an 8800GTX originally, but it died on me) RAM: 2 x 1Gb A-DATA I'm not real sure how much it affects the power by using other peripherals like wheels and joysticks, but occasionally I will use those too. There's a deal for a Corsair 400W for like $35 + free shipping after MIR and after I got a few comments back, I was considering doing that, but I wanted to see what you guys thought. If you think 400W is a little low, then what would you recommend? Thanks |
I would definately recommend Corsair, but 400 seems a little low, especially if you ever need to upgrade later. Maybe look at a 550w or so...But I would stick with Corsair, as their PSU appear to be some of the best out there. (I love my TX850)

Maybe the Corsair VX550W?

TT 750 has a 5 year warranty. You should be able to RMA it.

Corsair 400w seems good for the setup

Fill this out if you want to get a good idea of how much your system is going to ask from your PSU.

Ok, well I'm looking for something around $50 I can go a little higher if I need to, but I'd prefer to stay 50 or less. Any other suggestions? I realize Corsair is high quality, but I may be getting a new system in the next few months depending on what comes out so I'll probably have to get another one anyways. I'm mainly use it for gaming, by the way.

I'm personally an Enermax fan. They're rock solid.

This thing is pretty silent. Besides it not being modular, I am happy with it. |
I'd go with the 400CX... I have opne and it is golden... love it... go for it and don't even doubt yourself... Unless you plan to upgrading to a 5850 or something.... it doesn't have the connector for it, so you are limited to 5770
but looking at your system, when you will be upgrading, you will have to upgrade elsewhere first anyways I am not familiar with the one you bought... I would have gone corsair TBH :p or Antec Earthwatts |
I had the PowerPC Silencer 500 previously, and the Antec neo eco is pretty damn silent. All I care about is noise. Don't really care about anything else. lol
|
Well, I can assure that I've never been able to hear my 400cx, even when I tried
