Prolimatech Readies Samuel 17 Low-Profile CPU Heatsink
 

Prolimatech's latest creation is an HTPC-friendly low-profile CPU heatsink named Samuel 17, after the Biblical Old Testament chapter with the story of David and Goliath. The cooler uses a CPU base in which six nickel-plated copper heat pipes make direct contact with the processor, and convey heat to a dense aluminum fin array that propagates along the plane of the motherboard. On this, users can install a 120 mm fan. The heatsink measures 92 x 45 x 82 mm, weighing 410 g. It supports all current sockets including LGA 1366, LGA 1156, LGA 775, AM3/AM2(+). It is expected to be priced at 40 Euros when it goes on sale.

wish they woudlnt limit things that make them money. Im glad i got my megashadow when i did... why they dont sell them all the time is beyond me.

Fuck it, I'm buying this. The heatpipes and low-profile design got me sold. Time to replace my Mega Shadow.

Cool cooler. I like the looks but i think they overdid it with the number of heatpipes.

There are also Thermalright AXP-140 and Scythe Big Shuriken B...

+1 to this. Shuriken would definately be my choice until I see results of this. The 6 heatpipes of this have to help vs. the 3 of Shuriken, but Scythe is win IMO.

Only problem with Shuriken is that air flow is greatly limited by the heatpipes soldered into fins.
There is similar problem with AXP-140 but not so high as heatpipes are soldered in a different way.

€40 too, which isnt too bad. :)

This is nothing more than a MK-13 cut in half. At 40 euros its grossly overpriced like any other just launched Prolima product. At least this has a clear purpose unlike the Armagheddon which is just a weirder more expensive Megahalems.

40€ !?!?!? Get Big Shuriken instead really... it's only 24€ here in my country. Most of the time it was able to cool Core i7 920. Not on full load but it should be enough for any usage in HTPC systems.

Finally a suitable replacement for my CM GeminII S :)

I like it. It might just be the cooler I go with when I build my htpc. All we need is some reviews. Since its low profile, hopefully in an htpc environment and not desktop. Like to see how well it performs in minimal air flow and tight surroundings (installed pic) near memory.
