GPU advice needed!
 

I'm gonna go green I think. I want to make sure I ain't screwing the pooch however. Here is my idea.

1. Sell my 5850 for a decent price.
2. Take the cash and put it towards a 480 or MAYBE a 580.

Of course this is only after I see what the 69xx series has to offer. You see the last time I went green was a EVGA 8800GTS 320. I loved that card. However I had to dump it due to it conflicting with my sound card at the time. I want to give Nvidia another go. What do you guys think?

I think theyre well worth another go, but I wouldn't buy a GTX480 unless the price drops somewhat significantly, which it may well do it about a month. $300-350 would be perfect IMO.

I'd definitely sell the 5850 and wait on a GTX580, or a dual GPU GF104 when and if they land, which I'd like to assume they will. to me thats a better option than the 480, providing the price stay's high, and you have a backup card if the 5850 is gone.

You think 250 or 300 is to much for a 480? Thats what I figured the balance would be after I sold my 5850.

If you were dead set on upgrading, I would sell the 5850 ASAP (before prices dropped even more) and pick up a low end temp card. When the 69xx and 580 drop the prices for the 480 (at the least used) will drop and then you can make a decision based on reviews and whatnot.

Personally, right now $350 total out of pocket is a fair price for a 480.

well whats a GTX480 worth now? about $400 I thought, shave 100 or so off that and it's a cheap card, for the performance you'll get, especially after an agressive OC.

450 is the best I've seen.

With your specs if you want just one card, gtx480, or wait for the hd6900.

Depends too on what you are expecting to get for your 5850. I didn't want to let mine go for less than $190 so I still have it at present. May sell the GTX 460 anyway; need more vram than 768.

I'll wait Nov 21st to read the reviews for 6950 6970 & 6990. Wait and see how it compares againts the 480 and the 580. It's going to be intresting. I can't wait to buy me a pair of 6970s or even 1 6990 depends on the reviews.
