XFX 850 black edition... or the corsiar HX 850.?

Hi, im planning on buying a new psu, and i was thinking the XFX 850 black edition, or the corsair HX 850. the XFX cost's $137.38 at direct canada, and the corsair HX 850 cost's $167.98. and im also running an i7 870, and plan to X fire two HD 6870.
what one should i buy.?

Can never go wrong with corsair

f22a4bandit Nov 8, 2010 03:59 AM

+1 for the Corsair. They really know how to produce an excellent power supply.

n-ster Nov 8, 2010 04:00 AM

No question about it in my head... the XFX 750W at 115$ beats or is equal to the HX750 and is much cheaper... Besides, 750W for that build is already Overkill enough (This is coming from an owner of an HX850W)

Corsair is usually the choice to go to if you know nothing about PSUs... but go look at jonnyguru.com and realised how much bang/buck you get with the XFX 750w

Ok corsair it is, and also i know it's off topic, i would like to know how to put my BFBC2 stat's by my picture.?

f22a4bandit Nov 8, 2010 04:02 AM

If I remember correctly, W1zzard stopped allowing BFBC2 stats for sigs because of some problems on the site side.

Don't just take their word for it! Sure corsair is nice, has the brand name and stuff... but the XFX 750W is the best bang/buck you can get in Canada

Kantastic Nov 8, 2010 04:04 AM

XFX makes great power supplies, you'd be saving a chunk if you opt for them.

Achilles1600 Nov 8, 2010 04:06 AM

How doe's the XFX Black edition 850, compare to the HX 850.?

(FIH) The Don Nov 8, 2010 04:07 AM

isnt it seasonic inside? the xfx i mean

and also on the corsair?

if yes then it doesnt matter which you take, its the same lol

Look... plus, I find his asthetics grade way to subjective... I love the look of it. That would make it a 9.9/10 :D

I suggest going 750W as you don't need more now, and probably not the future

but lemme go see for the XFX 850W

EDIT: The XFX 850W seems to perform like the HX850...

You'll never see a difference. If I needed a new PSU and XFX was cheaper than Corsair, I would grab the XFX.

LAN_deRf_HA Nov 8, 2010 04:14 AM

Really they're all pretty equivalent. It comes down to price and taste... like I kinda think the xfx are a bit silly looking.

f22a4bandit Nov 8, 2010 04:15 AM

I only say Corsair based on reviews, and there are hundreds of them, compared to the few dozen for the XFX. However, if they're the same on the inside it really doesn't matter.

Hell, I should be the one telling you to go for the XFX instead of the Corsair. I have a damn Raidmax PS that I got for like $80 (USD) shipped and it's worked for two years without a hitch!

Achilles1600 Nov 8, 2010 04:15 AM

So, what one should i get if i get the XFX, the 750 or... 850, for my build

spec's
-i7 870... i might oc it idk yet
-liquid cooling
-8 gb corsair XMS3... havnt bought it yet
-2 HIS HD 6870's in CFX
-and also i would like the 850 watt, from either version to future proof my rig.

Says the HX 850 is a Channel Well (CWT) (DSG platform). It doesn't have a listing for the XFX 850, only the 650 which is Seasonic.

AlienIsGOD Nov 8, 2010 04:21 AM

The whole HX line is nice :) My HX1000 has been pulling 24/7 for over 27 months straight now, and not ahiccup in sight

guitarfreaknation Nov 8, 2010 04:29 AM

I have been using the HX 850 for some time now, and I would definitely recommend it. It comes with all the cables you will ever need/want, is fairly quite ( I cant hear it in my case), and looks great.

+1 for corsair

Achilles1600 Nov 8, 2010 04:30 AM

Ok, so what would you get for my build, the XFX 750 or 850.?

I think im liking the XFX PSU'S now lol

n-ster Nov 8, 2010 04:31 AM

I think it is ONLY the XFX 650W that SUCKSS monkey balls compared to their big brothers

I would suggest the XFX 750W over the 850W, but lemme compare them side by side and tell you what would be the best for you...

I would go for the 850, but then again I have never tried an XFX PSU

Achilles1600 Nov 8, 2010 04:46 AM

Yeah, ok i feel good about getting an XFX PSU, i think ill read more about it. and also is that good that it run's on a single 12V rail.?

n-ster Nov 8, 2010 04:50 AM

Yes Single is better in most cases, but multi-rail can be good if done properly.

How about I do you a detailed comparasion so that you can choose? For now, you can just sit back and relax while I do the work ;)

Achilles1600 Nov 8, 2010 04:51 AM

Sure, ill be playing BFBC2 for a bit.
