Imageshack.us

Yo quick question. Will imageshack run through a proxy? Tried uploading an image and my Flash during upload crashes everytime.

Guessing thats a no?

erocker Mar 16, 2011 12:56 AM

Meh, imageshack is loaded with popups and malware anyways. Try using www.photobucket.com or www.techpowerup.org.

oh yeah, and the TPU uploader tends to be far, far faster as well.

Maybe, but its true. :)

AlienIsGOD Mar 16, 2011 01:09 AM

Mussels speaks the truth. I always use TPU upload feature for all my pics and whatnot.

The only thing I don't like about it is the watermark. I use photobucket for almost everything, except for the rare times I need to upload something over 1MB.

And I agree with erocker, imageshack is loaded with malware, including those BS fake anti-virus viruses. I wish links to imageshack were banned here, as it is the same as posting links directly to malware.

Mussels Mar 16, 2011 01:10 AM

dont forget that the TPU uploader has its own snipping tool/auto uploader called TPUcapture.

and yes newtekie, the watermark can be annoying... but if you're using the images on TPU, who cares?

MRCL Mar 16, 2011 01:10 AM

TPU.org is faster than imageshack for sure. I use it for every image I upload. If there only wasn't the watermark, but what can you do. I don't upload wallpapers anyway.

LAN_deRf_HA Mar 16, 2011 01:13 AM

Why would your flash crash it? I can disable flash and java and still upload to imageshack. One of the few places I've fond that aren't dependent on it.

No idea but when I upload my Mozilla locks up and flash crashes

Well I'm not always just using the images on TPU, and on a higher resolution picture it isn't so bad, but on lower resolution pictures it can take up a huge junk of the picture.

++++++++11111111 It is such a POS image storage! As mentioned, it is more or less a direct link to serious malware. And not only that, it is so damn slooooooooow!!!

As suggested, either use the TPU photo uploading, or create an account at Photobucket:toast:

I've seen www.techpowerup.org hosted pictures posted here without the watermark. Anyone care to share how that's done? ;)

scaminatrix Mar 22, 2011 12:48 AM

I use attachments. No watermark, and you can go to the "Manage Attachments" area of your User CP and go looking through all the attachments you've ever made.

I think it was either:
1. an external link
2. in a case gallery or
3. an attachment

qubit Mar 22, 2011 06:06 AM

Thanks scam, but I remember seeing the link properties and it definitely was www.techpowerup.org That's why I was so surprised.

for reviews and such, w1zz (and news posters etc) would have to be able to upload images without the watermark somehow

qubit Mar 22, 2011 06:47 AM

Well, I've tried to have a look people, but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack and I don't remember which poster it was, other than to say I think it was a mod. Thinking about it, I'm "sure" I saw it in that way that one is kinda sorta sure, with a dollop of uncertainty, so I couldn't swear to it any more without seeing it again.

I can't rule out that I'm getting confused about this and have made a mistake, especially as W1zz has replied that it shouldn't be possible.

Funtoss Mar 22, 2011 08:47 AM

why not use TinyPic?
