Which keyboard??
 

few people might know that Ive been considering replacing my logitech illuminated keyboard for a while now as its starting to become a little unresponsive in games. ive given it a cleaning and blasted out any dust or crap that might be jamming up the keys.

the keys arent jamming per se and generally speaking the keyboard is still very functional. But i dont know why that when I play a particular game. the 'f' key it doesnt seem to register unless i use more force then normal to push the key down. however when im not gaming and just replying to emails, forum posts and doing other stuff that requires quite a bit of typing. there doesnt seem to be a problem at all.

So, Ive had a look around and ive narrowed it down to a TT Challenger Ultimate, Logitech G510 or G110.

Does anyone have any experiences with any of these keyboards that would like to just drop in a good word on what they think of it so far??

IMO the screen on the G510 is a bit of a gimmick and its something I can really do without. but having a display that shows CPU usage and temperture while gaming is awesome! --- to be blunt, Its shiny and I wants it!! the G510 is about £80 and the G110 = £55, TT Challenger Ultimate = £55

TBH, Im probably more suited to the logitech keyboards.

Have you looked at the Corsair boards?
They have that "logitech feel" to the layout, and they have mechanical switches for most of the keys.

I have actually - More then twice. the K60 would be high on my list but its not illuminated, so that leaves the K90 but that costs way more then what im prepared to pay for. I did mention a Logitech G510 in my first post, but even that at £80 is pushing the limit of what im willing to pay.

Ive never been a user of macro keys, though I would see how they can be useful in a few of the games i play and i would most likely start using them if had the ability to (or not lol)

I have both and much prefer the K60 even w/o the back lighting. Just some food for thought.

If you like your current keyboard, maybe it just needs a more thourough cleaning than just blasting out the dust with air.

search the www for "G510 problems" lots of hits prob's go from dim lights, G18 key not working, driver issues etc

ah well the G510 is out of the picture too i guess. Razer has inconsistant build quality with their keyboards so i dont really trust them. only real choice I seem to have is the Corsair K60/K90.

g510 is nice, Thermal take's stuff isn't too bad either

Why not just get a mechanical keyboard that has back lighting? There should be a few options just north of your listed budget.

Razer make a lot of backlighted mechanical keyboards but build quality cant be trusted.

Corsair K90 is the only backlit mechanical they do and thats really pushing my budget

QPAD MK-80/85 Pro looks amazing, but its a lot more expensive then the K90

I should have purchased a Deck keyboard like I wanted in the first place. I highly intend not to make the Logitech mistake again, that's for sure.

The G510 should technically be better than the G110 as they have it set up with 5 key input like the G19.

The G110 only allows for 3 keys to be pressed before it starts tripping balls. :shadedshu

Most of the mechanical keyboard designs are just old OEMs wrapped in a exterior design, plus if it is Cherry keys it is Cherry keys not really much to mess up. And like you said it is an investment and currently 99% of the membrane keyboards for gaming are just plain bad quality sold at inflated prices compared to the normal keyboards out there.

well looks like Im gonna have to sit back and wait till this one dies or till i get really pissed off with it. trying to save up for a 27" catleap ^^

I got one of these after having issues with the g110, it's not bad, i prefer the feel to the g110 or g510.

Pretty cheap too, it was £25 when i got it, i've seen it drop as low as £22

well... After much chewing the fat on the matter and getting butt raped while playing some GvG in guild wars because I healed the other person and not myself because my "F" button decided not to work I have decided to go with a Corsair K90.

luckily enough, there is a secondhand one on ebay

the keyboard costs around £95 for a new one. so I may look into getting it, He's claimed he only used it for two months and is selling as he still prefers his Logitech G15. the auction is currently sitting at £30.

I reckon its worth looking into, but id prefer if i bought it brand new so I can claim to be the first one to use and abuse it :D :D

What do you guys think? worth bidding on the auction or just jump straight to buying a new one?

I just got my G110 the other day, and it's amazing! No problems with ghosting or anything like that. Although I would say spring for the G510 if you need more macros and a screen.

EDIT: Just saw that you found a K90, that's an awesome price! I say bid and if you don't win keep searching, and try a bunch out at your local PC store and see what feels right.

use a side winder x6 daily... not too shabby. was gonna get a mionx couldn't find a positive review ... saw a steele series shift on sale at new egg for $35 ordered it because... it was $35 will see how it does. Still looking for that UBER mechanical

not sure about uber mechanical, but Ive heard some really good things about the Qpad MK-80/85 Pro, Bloody expensive too but its the sort of keyboard I would definitely go for if it was a bit cheaper as it ticks all the right boxes.

the Corsair K90 isnt a bad keyboard but I dont exactly need all the macro keys. though I would probably get used to using it soon enough with the soon to be released Guild wars 2 and maybe some random stuff like a mute switch for teamspeak/ventrillo.

the only other mechanical keyboard that features Cherry MX Red and LED is probably Ducky.

and by the time ive paid postage fees to import it from china or the U.S i might as well just go for the MK-85 Pro which only costs a little more.

I was having the same keyboard debate, I recently opted for TT Challenger Ultimate over a mechanical and i really love it. Feels great, has great response and nice backlighting

$80 is too much for a rubber dome keyboard :(
