Its a sad day, AMD. Or: When AMD fanboys ATTACK!!!!!!

When the gtx690 gets released a month after the gtx680 and AMD can't release the 7990 4 months after the 7970... its a sad sad day.

:ohwell::ohwell::ohwell::ohwell::ohwell::cry:

Edit: Lesson learned. Don't post facts to TPU AMD forum about AMD failing. The fanboys will come out and swarm!

Bitcoiners the world over are none too pleased. :nutkick:

erocker Apr 29, 2012 08:42 PM

Why? That they can just buy two 7970's at most likely a cheaper price? Bitcoiners are hardly a large part of any consumer base. Besides, through the news we all know the 690 is "released". Limited numbers and it's not really relevant to what AMD is doing at all.

And since they make up so much of the segment, we should REALLY care what they think.:wtf:

I think last summer kinda proved otherwise. 5000 series cards were unavailable for months and 5970s were going for $700 to $800 on ebay. On top of that 6950s and 6970s while available were somewhat scarce. Reference cards were nearly impossible to find by end of June.

Hey i'm an amd fan myself. I've been waiting for the 7990 for months to replace my flashed 6950s. This article was just sort of salt in the wound for me.

i dont personally count a ten on the shelf paper release as anymore then marketing us first manship , they are just beating amd to the dual gpu braggin rights first for a change, neither can get hold of enough chips to actually produce them in any more then irelivant numbers and exotic prices

So what does nvidia releasing a card have to do with you? Nothing. The 7990 will be released eventually.

And much easier to get the ones you want too.

Hard enough to get a 680 never mind a 690.

AMD had way more cards at launch than NV did with the 680

It is sad the nvidia guys are still promoting an old piece of rasterization tech like the gtx 680 twins at an "affordable" price of 999 $$$
There were no reason to release the gtx 680 and there is much more no reason to have that gtx 690 placed in a pc.
At this time a radeon 6970 or a gtx 580 are still very good cards to play anything you can throw them at and for sure the market does not need any gtx 690 nor a radeon 7990 apart enthusiasts who enjoy watching benchmark numbers.
Probably the 7990 will face out when the gk110 will come.

What the hell, I had no idea AMD users and fan boys were so full of rage! Jeesh! No matter how you spin it, this is sad for AMD. Completely owned by nvidia.

So, where can I buy a GTX690 today? No where.

What store local to me has GTX680 in stock, and not on pre-order? NONE.

What high-end card can I buy today? The 7970? YEP.

Seems like nVidia's the one who got owned, announcing products that they cannot supply to end users, But will SOON!(tm), while AMD is selling cards like hotcakes.

I digress though, I will buy neither, so it doesn't really matter to me.

It's not about fanboys, it's about people not liking the tease from nvidia, while AMD satisfies those high-end GPU needs. It's more of an eyerolling situation than anything else...like a "Really, nV?"

Kreij Apr 29, 2012 11:11 PM

At AMD HQ ...
Dude #1 : We released a great card !
Dude #2 : Nvidia just released one that's a little better, and are going to release their dual proc before us.
Dude #1 : Good, we'll wait so we can tweak ours to be a little bit better when we release it.
Dude #2 : Do we always play this cat and mouse game with nvidia?
Dude #1 : Are you new here?

Good times ahead. No sad days that I can see.

ThaSpacePope Apr 29, 2012 11:13 PM

Who buy's their video card locally? really? Best buy or fry's? lol cmon man.

And if it weren't for Nvidia, amd would still be charging $700 for the 7970. Ridiculous. You know its true. The availability of the 7970 is likely tied DIRECTLY to it being overpriced relative to the 680gtx. Today's current prices are fairly competitive but AMD only lowered them to compete with Nvidia.

All i'm saying is that i've been waiting for 7990 and there has been not a peep from AMD about it. NOTHING. Meanwhile Nvidia is releasing the 690gtx a month after 680. This is AMD fail and as an AMD user this aggravates me. Why is this point not being understood?

I still Buy Cards Locally because of the quick turn around when and IF they break and plus they tend to be more reliable than the ones sitting in hot warehouses. SO whats your problem!?

This means more power to AMD- which seems to be executing Product Launches easily

Ya 1000 Bux for a video card, Peh I can get a Whole PC that is really good for less than that.

Funny thing is; it is not sarcasm! Good luck finding this magical/mystical GTX680.

All you have to do is look around the web and you'll quickly see how little of them are actually in the hand's of end user's. A few made it out for reviews and some to the "Pro Clockers" to get the fanboy juice's flowing (Nvidia's marketing is right up there with Apple, very smart) but everyone else is trying to grab a ghost

No Kidding I still find it funny though. But Ya AMD Graphics Division has been in general making calculated Moves since the Radeon HD 4000 series came out and executed with Efficiency

Oh where oh where has the op Fnkn Noob Gone oh where oh where can he be ;)
