Max Payne 3 PC Review Gameplay Walkthrough [1080p]

Hey Everyone,

I know a lot of people are unsure to get the PC version of this game. Hopefully my playthrough will help you decide if you want it.
Personally, the game feels great and fantastic on the PC. It definitely doesn't feel like a port. Best Rock* PC made game to date. 6 year old console graphics = garbage

Can the bullet time graphics effects be turned off? I don't like the cutscene effects either, but of course those are going to be a live with it thing. Maybe a mod will account for at least the gameplay effects if you can't turn it off. Then again I got to the point where I could play the first two without much bullet time, so there's always that.

Yes you can. Just went to check personally earlier to make sure. :)

Game runs silky smooth on max settings except for AA, which I have at 2x.

Can someone make a small gunplay vid with the bullet time graphics effects turned off please? Just a one minute or so vid would easily suffice. Thanks

BTW, if you're not already using it, try DxTory instead of Fraps, it is very, very good.

Here's a nice user tutorial on it:

I recorded a 30 second clip because of FRAPS' limit but I hope that's enough to demonstrate it. Here you go. :)

Didn't record on DxTory like you suggested though, I was too lazy to learn and I had FRAPS installed already.

OK, thanks, that gives me a good idea of the comparison with and without it. The now and then white flashes of light are strange though. Doesn't really look like muzzle flash, but I'm guessing that's what it's supposed to be.

You're welcome. :)

The white flashes of light happen when you kill someone.

Odd, so you can turn off the excessive white overwash of bullet time, but you still have to put up with that? I really don't see the point of having an option to disable bullet time graphics if they're going to leave that white flashing hard coded.

There's far too many games with high end graphics these days that don't let you get the full benefit of them due to effects that can't be turned off, be it blur, bloom, or in this case, ambient occlusion type effects.

Maybe I'll be able to find a file somewhere I can edit to disable it completely.

This game is very shot, only 14 chapters played it over the weekend and i was done with it play time was approximately 8 hours give or take like 15 min

crazyeyesreaper Jun 4, 2012 06:18 PM

beat in 7hours, playing through a second time, going to try and beat it on the hardest difficulty aka take 1 bullet and your dead gonna be awesome.

Considering the advantage of bullet time, there should be one difficulty. Hard as f*ck.

crazyeyesreaper Jun 4, 2012 06:26 PM

well bullet time helps but the game can screw you with it say you use it and then theirs an awesome scene, well it seems in some cases bullet time will auto engage then its gone, and your sliding toward like 10 guys blasting you and you wind up dead... however as far as im aware on the hardest difficulty bullet time wont save you if your hit even once, you still die unless you kill the guy that shot you. games still hard tho no matter what difficulty its challenging if you dont have the right weapons for the right situation.

erocker Jun 4, 2012 06:28 PM

Someone needs to make a video of the enemies perspective in game. I think it would look funny as hell. In their eyes Max must be moving like The Flash.

crazyeyesreaper Jun 4, 2012 06:29 PM

hahaha that would be fucking epic

Second time runs are only for the games i really like but for games like this Max Payne 3 i don't bother to play a second time, i give them one shot so i played hard the exact time minus credits 7 hours 40 minutes, and this is in hard it wasn't hard for me, but i know if i play online I'll get ass whopped and i don't like that so i only play campaign in games and that's it.

crazyeyesreaper Jun 4, 2012 08:18 PM

i enjoy the game theirs also various things i can try as well as a few unlocks, mostly i greatly enjoy how the game plays so ill give it another full run through again but ill wait till i replay Max Payne 1 and 2 first and do a 3 game sweep. as i got both previous games free due to pre purchase

hahahha!!!

Dude that would be soo cool! However, you are not allowed to according to Rock* policy. You can't make a video of the game

crazyeyesreaper Jun 4, 2012 10:08 PM

yea... like they are gonna do anything about it, once something gets posted on youtube it gets downloaded and reuploaded 50 damn times, just a waste of time to stop it lol they wont do squat.

DarkVision Jun 4, 2012 11:00 PM

seems everytime i watch a video of a game from beginning to end. i fell as if i already played it and lose interest in actually playing it. but maybe thats just me.
