Is the ASUS 7950 DCII a good Graphics card? does it have problems or weaknessess?

DO NOT REFFER ME TO MSI GPU'S i know all about them!

does it have Cooling problems? ( i know the Asus uses an excellent Cooler they made the DCII but does the 7950 have any cooling problems wih it?)

Does it have any Weaknesses?

Whats the max Core Clock You can reach While overclocking it using the asus GPU Tweak?
Can you send me a link that shows how to overclock with Gpu Tweak?
Whats the MAX Overclock you can do with the card? (apart from the core clock)/
or in other words what would be the highest overclock to get it max Performance?

Thank you for answering

660TI seems like a good competitor of the 7950 but when OCed it surpasses it. That would be a good card to look at as well.

Just curious. I was interested in knowing about MSI.
Do you have any experience with their cards and did u find any problems?
Thanks

Priced the same.. and the 7950 can overclock to surpass an overclocked 660ti. I wouldn't get the DCII though. I've heard bad things about the coolers on some occasions.

the DCII is the best cooler there is!

and through Techpowerup reviews (this site) the only card to get a perfect 10 is the Asus GTX 670 DCII

To answer yourself?

I'm saying I've read some people having problems with the cooler. Now, this may have been with earlier batches of 7970's though. Personally, I would go with a reference model or just get a 670.

Asus7950DCII Sep 27, 2012 07:06 PM

:nutkick: <---- this is what you did to me just now.

and yes it is with earlier batches but im actullay refering to its performance or anything else.

ALMOSTunseen Sep 27, 2012 07:07 PM

Problem with these big coolers can be the user sometimes.. "Oh yeah, I've got the best cooler there is out there, pft, no problems taking this baby up to 1250 or 1300mhz", a couple weeks of 24/7 oc later. "This card is crap, I had to RMA it cause it overheated"

I mean, i've had a bad experience with a Gigabyte 6970.. had to get it refunded, for a "depreciated" price. I got a MSI 570 twin frozr III power edition. Loved it. Loved it so much, I'm getting a 680 lightning now.

If the price is right, go for it.

Things you need to know are that all cards overclock differently and will behave differently even if they are the same model. The last time I ran a CrossFire setup (two 6950's) one card could overclock more than the other and one card was hotter than the other. Both were the same card, same cooler, etc.

Ahhh... Troll threadz! Now all we need is a colour scheme/layout like [H] & we'll be all set!

Asus is junk.

1) Its Asus. 2) IIRC They are voltage/BIOS locked so what you get is what you get. 3) Its overpriced

Sapphire OR MSi are your best choices for 7950 imo. I wouldn't bother looking at anything else, in the $300 range there is no competion. Especially when you OC ;)

Don't listen to me though, I'm just a stooge :D

Now, as far as the topic goes, any specific questions?

m1dg3t Sep 27, 2012 07:49 PM

Best bang/$$$ in 7950ville is the Sapphire or MSi both are open to BIOS flashes and voltage tweaks and both have the beefy VRM section. If you pik the right ones ;)

My 7950 is on a 7970 board with an extra VRM. Not even the GHZ editions have this extra VRM. I have only seen it on Sapphire/MSi cards. If you want to pay more for less, boy have I got a lot of stuff to sell you! :)

You have an MSI Radeon R7950 Twin Frozr is it better than the MSI GTX 660ti Power edition?
does it Overclock better?
what would be the i should buy?
does it have better cooling?

commander calamitous Sep 28, 2012 08:24 AM

At max overclock a 7950 is at most ~10% faster than a max overclock 660 Ti, and is priced accordingly.

You can look at the Galaxy 660 Ti :D As cool, quiet and efficient as the MSI card, and great overclocker too

Interesting, I'm just annoyed that Sapphire often skimps on memory quality except perhaps on openly named overclocking models. XFX 7950 black edition should be on here too, though thermals or power draw may not be as competitive

Hey, what about HIS? i just got 7950 his for gr8 price and it idles @ 30c, oc,s quite well and its a ref card, been great so far, can run most games at nearly full res, even metro without too much aa ~ af etc. stable 24/7 @950-1300.
And i flashed new ghz bios to it no probs too!

ps, you folks crack me up with these posts hehehe!
