New Accessory Lets You Block Unused Fan Vents
Does your case have too many fan vents? If so, you'll find this accessory, which cropped up from deep within the bi-lanes of Tokyo's Akihabara district handy. The PA-044 from peripherals maker Ainex covers unused 120 mm and 140 mm fan vents firmly with standard screws. It is made of 0.8 mm-thick sheet of steel, and should block out noise from within the case, and serve as an anti-dust measure. According to the source, it should begin shipping from mid-November. It's likely that peripheral resellers could bring it westwards, selling it by the dozens.

Gosh it's just a plate with four holes
what else were you expecting...
should come in handy for those custom builds/case mods. should be fairly cheap and keep dust out. |
And the sound in.........the corsair 550 comes with a similar option
Anymore than £5 for one of those and they can stick it where the sun don't shine.
Yes it will keep the sun out too ;)
And it will obstruct views the size of its area. ;)
I use duct tape and a piece of cardboard for this :) but this is more elegant.
Hoper there are similar covers for CDROM bays because I sold mine (I don't use it) and now I have a big hole covered with paper lol |
useful for those who have too many empty fan spots on their cases
If there's a hole for a fan, I fill it with a fan. XD
but why. leaving holes is good for equalizing the pressure!
I wondered when this kind of thing would be implemented as an accessory. I think the ones that have been on the Fractal Design cases for some years now are great, especially with the noise deadening material on them.
Its best to have just enough air flow to cool and keep positive case pressure. Keeps the USB and any other hole form clogging up with dust and making your case look dirty. Also its a PC not a air purifier. No need to run 100 cubic feet of air per min thru your case. It just makes a mess of it

Its something you can make with plastic tray from motherboard box and 4 screws. It's how i blocked my top vent hole. And since it is a transparent plastic i can see through it, yet the noise is contained within the case.

I have a sheet of magnetic stuff (technical term obviously), but it's 4mm thick, has smooth flexible outsides with 2mm of felt like stuff inside that you can just cut out to size and then just place them over vents..... works good for me, got it from a DIY place about 10 years ago I think, one metre square for about £2.99 back then.

These have been around for a while, CaseLabs sells them for their own cases and then there's this one:
