Pickle: To upgrade or not to upgrade

So, I've been wanted to upgrade my graphics for awhile, but I hesitate as every time I look around, prices are constantly dropping.

My situation:

- Upgrade to a 7950-7970 and man up
- Add another 6950(flashed) or 6970 and crossfire.
- Wait even longer, as a 6970 might be around $150 soon enough (I think).
- Wait till Christmas / my January birthday (little more cash flow).

Should I start clean and buy a single card when the price is right? Or just get another 6970 and xfire as the performance of games don't really outweigh 2 6970s yet.

:banghead:

Either wait for the sweet christmas and january sales on the 7970's (and man the hell up!) or simply wait for AMD's new 8xxx series cards which will arrive in the next quarter or two. 6950 flashed is nothing to scoff at :)

Wait. No point in adding more cards to an already decent setup. Wait for games to come out that push the card you have to it's limits, then upgrade.

This is true, but as you know, us PC enthusiasts always want more :pimp:

I've always sorta wanted to have the satisfaction of displaying 2 connected GPUs. :rockout:
But you guys are right, I should wait.

There is plenty out there to push his card to the limits. At this point, it would be difficult for him to add AA and stay above 60FPS.

I mean I can't have EVERYTHING at Ultra, but I can comfortably Set to Ultra and just turn down settings which I don't really care for :P

But yes, this card, If I wanted everything Ultra, cannot provide.

-> HIS 6970 /w Accelero Xtreme Plus II <-
But you know what, I don't think I even OC'd it yet lol

60fps is not low. Anyone that says they need above 60 is just finding ways to justify their expenditures on high end cards.

And as the op, if you want more then go get more. You have answered your own question.

I just like seeing what other people might do in my situation.

In that case, I would do nothing, wait save up and buy the 8000 series in a couple of months time.

However it may be helpful for others if you filled out your systemspecs. That can be found in your user CP.
