crosshair II formula wont boot

i got a 3800 x2 in it, 1 stick of ram, both work ok, i put a graphics card on it and it starts up, fans goin then they slow like they would when it gets to post but nothing on screen? any idea? if it was dead the fans would just go full out surely?

I am assuming that all of the power is plugged in correctly, including the PCI-e power on the video card?

Also, a computer will boot fine without a single fan, for a short time.

The last time I had an issue like yours, it had something to do with the power supply, with one instance the PCIe not being plugged in, and another where the PSU was dead, but providing enough power to get the fans up and a bit of power to the motherboard.

yup all powers connected, the fans spin up then slow down like they would when a comp hits bios tried 2 difference power supplys and 2 diff cards, even a athlon x2 240 and with that it just booted then turned off in a loop

de.das.dude Dec 13, 2012 03:49 PM

you sure the video cable is connected to the card?

yes im sure

Either something is not connected or something is dead. If you have another workstation I would check each individual part. You have already said that the RAM and CPU are good.

Gas2100 Dec 13, 2012 04:31 PM

the gfx cards are fine too, the fans slow down like its hitting the post screen but i get nothing

Gas2100 Dec 16, 2012 04:59 PM

Booted booted or still no video? You can try hot flashing the BIOS chip from another motherboard or ordering a BIOS chip from ebay. Those boards are getting rare now so hopefully it is ok I loved mine back in the day.

Heck of a board never should have sold it.

Gas2100 Dec 17, 2012 01:03 PM

brandonwh64 Dec 17, 2012 01:07 PM

brandonwh64 Dec 17, 2012 01:16 PM

Have you tested a different PSU in this system?

Gas2100 Dec 17, 2012 01:16 PM
