NVIDIA GeForce Experience Open Beta Launched
NVIDIA's GeForce Experience game settings optimization tool opened up to beta testing by the public at large. The software is designed to make PC gaming as effortless as console gaming, when it comes to getting the best experience out of available hardware. The tool detects your GeForce hardware, installed games, and suggests the best settings for your games given your system specs, which can be applied with one click.
GeForce Experience went open-beta with the release of a new version of the software, v1.0.1, which expands its list of supported games to include Far Cry 3, Mechwarrior Online, and Hawken; improved game detection logic, support for more CPUs (Core 2 series), playable settings for the new 2560 x 1440 resolution, translations to more languages, and numerous bug fixes. http://www.techpowerup.com/img/13-01-28/257a_thm.jpg DOWNLOAD: GeForce Experience 1.0.1 Beta |
I still don't get the point of this. I know what its for and why but really...this is a waste of resources and talent when you can do the same thing either in game or via control panel. It'll have to be updated and maintained over the years. If games are updated, sometimes they'll break something. Specially MMOs. There is no way NV is going to maintain this once it's supported titles balloon into the 100s. Unless they simply just automate it. But then gamers will stop using it because it won't be accurate.

this is for n00b gamers though who don't know the first thing about settings... the same ones that complain their games look like sh!t on their pc's and then revert back to consoles because they tried to max out BF3 on a mid-line budget rig. seems good for the n00bs

Who wouldn't want GFE?
|
Useless ...
|
Yep. +1 Covert.
You can pretty much guarantee that posting an article whose efficacy is aimed squarely at the less-tech savvy, will incur the ire and derision of the Enthusiast...after all, with some decent graphics horsepower being available for cheap these days, it must be near-criminal that some of the user base aren't fully versed image quality implementation such as differences in antialiasing and post process performance penalties. |
Enough with the enthusiast arrogance, not every piece of technology is targeted at people like us, if it would help lure more console gamers to PC gaming or simply non-gamers, why the Hell not.
It really doesn't hurt for PC gaming to have a more friendly face for those who need it, it's quite barren sometimes, with every game revolving around it's own little universe and almost zero standards in regards to everything. That being said, I agree this would require quite a bit of dedication/maintenance... |
Didn't they release the Beta for this a few months ago? I tested it then, I don't see any use for it myself after seeing what it does, but for someone who knows nothing about PC games I can see it being useful for them.

Stupid. Games already have pretty good performance detection mechanisms. So if you have good system they set everything to max anyway and if you don't they set it lower anyway. So what's the point of this app?

Don't game already have "Optimized" settings themselves? AND it works with any video cards not just Nvidia's? Redundancy is redundant. People able to built their own PC should already be savvy enough for such things.

I am skeptical of this app...
Not sure why. Just a gut feeling. |
There is a gamepad icon next to the "Games" text on the pic. I think that's is more than enough to accurately pinpoint the target audience of this app.:toast:
|
I just crank the graphics to the max and if it lags lower the shadow settings. easy peasy.
|
While I agree most new HW will run the game at max setting fine as software is always behind in HW capability .
But many of the new DX9,DX11 settings new users don't know what each does so for them if they don't have latest it will help them, at least get it running decent if app works . |
I was actually impressed by this program, but only if they can find the optimal settings for every game and stay at a steady pace with game development, I find this program useful but will I ever use it? nah but it still doesn't take away from the fact that it is useful.

I think this is a great way to lure non pc gamers. If it can help move console gamers over to PC, I"m all for it. This is what this software was built for, not us. Everybody here at TPU should be supporting this software. We will stay a dying breed if we shun innovation.. Why do people say eww it has a controller Icon!.. I see who this is for.. I hate to tell those people, but pc had controllers before consoles... I still have an old joystick/flightstick that hooked up to the old controller port DB plug. :toast:

Voted no, nada, zilch, jack.
If they're so smart-asses then it's better to build drivers that way that they optimize everything automatically. No need to create a separate "app" for that. |
