Gigabyte G1 sniper 3

Gigabyte G1 sniper 3. Ive just recently purchased this mobo off a friend (impulse buy) for a new sli rig. I just wanna know your guys thoughts and maybe a few bits that would work good with it? I already know that i want 2 gtx 670 its just the rest to really complement it.

:)

cadaveca Feb 20, 2013 09:51 PM

Get some G.Skill Sniper ram.:p

It already has decent audio and LAN.

slugzee Feb 21, 2013 05:23 PM

Ordered lol. This rig is purely for gaming dude. Im just need help to find the best stuff for that lol.

Sasqui Feb 21, 2013 05:34 PM

Looks like a great board, what cost?

@ Dave, you have any thoughts on the Gigabyte bluetooth/Wifi expansion card?

Works fine, gamed on it, even, got my 2.0 MB/s down, can't ask for much more than that for me personally. Same card is with the "WiFi" edition boards, so I have a few of those now.

You don't really need much more. PSU and SSDs? I dunno...

slugzee Feb 21, 2013 06:00 PM

My friend just wanted rid so i got a £140 so i didnt think i did so bad after checking all of the prices online plus it wasnt even opened lol. I wont be using the little wireless thing that came with it. I was think of a nic? but not really heard if they are worth the money or just B.S. Do you think 2 gtx 670 or a 690?

cadaveca Feb 21, 2013 06:01 PM

Yeah, good price! 2x670, cheaper, maybe better OC? Get EVGA FTW single-fan edition, has GTX680 PCB for good power when overclocking.

this.

The 670 FTW single fan (Basically a reference 680 with a 670 GPU) is a sweet card.

slugzee Feb 21, 2013 06:06 PM

I thought i had got a steal ive tested my i5 in and its all working :). I was looking at the gtx 670 ftw but I kept having eye sex with the 690 at the same time lol. Ive already decided on the case I an going for the Haf x Nvidia ed.

cadaveca Feb 21, 2013 06:07 PM

I did the same with the GTX690. Early January, had I left home and headed toward the PC store, I would have bought one.

Instead, I bought food. Oh, and new boots for my kids.:p

I have a HAF man. Its a strong case but it gathers dust like crazy so keep that in mind. I also have a 670 FTW single fan GPU and I can attest its a strong card indeed.

Enjoy it, kids are expensive, and I have 4. :banghead:

Kids are totally worth it though, for me.

I still have a pretty decent rig, 3960x and dual 7950's. I'd kinda rather the GTX670's, honestly. If I was buying today, that'd be my choice, even with money no object. But that said, I'd choose dual Titan cards, really, now that I've seen the numbers.. I like separate dual GPUs.

:toast: Man very few on this forum know how true that is. I have three. Granted I don't have as nice as a rig as you do but I do ok with what I got. So of us just have lower standards.

I can guess kids are expensive i know how much it is just paying for myself :). You both have awesome rigs tho so you must be doing something right in life :)

I just saw one at local Walmart (of all places) for $28!

I do the motherboard reviews here. The only thing I actually paid for was one of the VGAs, SSDs, and the case and PSU. The rest was paid for by doing reviews.

But yeah, it's not really that hard, just need to change priorities. I used to drive a BMW M5 which I got cheap off an auction, but repairs on that are a nightmare, and it had no warranty.

Quite a few are gaming off of a single GTX670, like Mailman here. two is almost overkill in some situations, of course, but I have three monitors. SO I still make stupid purchases. :p

Seems like a fair price. Wi-Fi/Bluetooth should cost about that.

$30k for a car is nothing. NO way I could afford a new one though! :p

Titan looks to do well with 2560x1600, but my 7950's sure do not perform up to my expectations @ 2560x1600. I had hoped that going to three monitors would be better, since AMD was hyping it so much...bought first set with 5870's, now on IPS monitors, still even with three cards it's not quite what I had hoped for. Seems mostly driver-related, I guess.

erocker plays on 1440p with a single 7970 fine, seems happy. Could be my 5-year old 30-inch is showing it's age, perhaps.
