Can no longer detect TV with Asus ATI 9800PRO/TVD/256M after BIOS Flash...
Problem:
I can no longer detect my TV with the TV-out feature of my Asus A9800PRO/TVD/256M card (See http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l...83&modelmenu=1 for my card details). What happened: I experienced that my screen would freeze every now and then at boot just before the Windows logon screen - apparently this has to do with the ATI chip doing some kind of a suspend. I read in some forum somwhere that this can be fixed by updating the bios on the card. What I did: I went to http://support.asus.com/download/dow...A9800%20Series and picked the BIOS update link and selected the v 1.0 BIOS update for my PAL card (exact link is http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/beta/vga/PAL.zip). I flashed from Windows and found the screen would freeze a bit less at startup, but now I have a new problem - I cannot see anything on my TV at all. I removed and reinstalled the ATI drivers - thinking that perhaps the newer BIOS gave new chip id to some components etc - but still nothing on TV. Kindly advise? I think it was the wrong bios... ATItool says I have R350 (not R360 for XT bios). QUESTION: What would be the BEST and latest BIOS for this card? Current BIOS seems now to be: http://www.fourpaws.za.net/ccc.JPG |
the line "if it aint broke, dont fix it" comes to mind. basically if you want to use tv then flash back to your original BIOS and let the suspend thing do its thing.

Thanks... I pretty much agree (now)! I would still like an opinion on the following though, in reference to the ATI Bios list on this site...
What would be the BEST and latest BIOS for this card? |
