Xbox360 outsells all consoles this holiday season
In the console war between Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony, Microsoft has won this holiday season. Between November and Christmas day in 2006, Microsoft sold nearly 2 million Xbox360's. This was very close to Nintendo Wii sales, which totaled around 1.8 million. The Sony PS3 trailed at around 750,000 sales, which was less than half of the Wii sales.

Woohoo!

These numbers don't mean anything when the other two consoles were limited by supply. We don't know how many PS3s and Wiis would have been sold if they were actually available in numbers that exceeded demand like the Xbox360.

Agreed newtekie. though, Im sure it will all even out and the Wii, not the PS3 or Xbox 360, comes out on top (I hope to get both a Wii for me and a ps3 :JAJA::~

PS3 isn't that great IMO. I went to several stores this week, and they had a few PS3's in stock, and many were looking at them, but very few were actually buying. Besides being a cheap Blu-Ray player, the PS3 isn't worth much IMO. Games aren't even that great either, besides Resistance: Fall of Man (which still isn't that great). Xbox 360 comes out on top IMO as a Entertainment Console, and Nintendo Wii as a Family Console.

dont look anythong into these sales figures, remeber both the Wii and ps3 were out of stock and still are most places also the ps3 hasnt been released in Europe yet, had all 3 consoles been in stock i dont think Micro$oft would have sold as much as they did but im guessing many in Europe have given up waiting for a ps3 now.

Should give me a nice boost on stocks. *crosses fingers*

while the PS3 was in limited supply, some were in stock and I don't think even 1 million were available for sale.
The Wii, the closest competition, probably would have outdone the 360 by a large margin if there was enough of them, but definitely congrats to Microsoft. The 360 is a winner, taking two full holiday seasons basically and being way ahead of the other two consoles in terms of online services and number of games. |

Regardless whether or not the other 2 consoles were in short supply, the 360 did in fact sell more consoles. There are too many haters in here who don't own any of the 3 new consoles. As an owner of all 3, I can tell you that the 360 is nothing to laugh about. |
really not surprising to me. The Xbox 360 has been out for a year. What would be interesting is to compare how many 360's were sold on release day compared to the amount of Wiis on its relaese day.

Xbox 360 > PS3 > Wii

All you PS3 haters need to die! J/K quit hating on it. Sooner or later it all goes to the PS and Sony.

Well in all fairness, as the Inquirer article points out, the Wii wasn't released until the 19th of November and the research includes consoles sold since the start of novermber. In decemeber alone I'm pretty sure I've read that the Wii was the best seller, but I could be wrong.

WarEagle i have something to tell you
"RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDGE RACER!!!!!!!!!!!" "$599 US dollars!!!!!!!" I know someone with a PS3, and guess what, its a 600 dollar paper weight sitting on his tv. He has one game for it and he played it for a total of 5 hours, max. He's been playing his Wii. |
