hard drive
 
i want to bulid a new computer but i want to keep my old hard drive but i have to sell my computer with the hard drive so is there any way i could buy a new hard drive and copy every thing form my old hard dive to the new one. that way i would be abole to sell my old comp with all the stuff i hade on my hard drive and be abole to have my new hard dive in my new comp with all the stuff from the old hard drive?

yes its not hard. just save your hold hdd, build your new system with your new hdd, slave your old hdd to the new system, and transfer data. piece of cake.

you should be able to get the drive, put it in, make a partition for your data you want to save and install windows on another partition

Sure. Buy a second drive, then use Norton Ghost and do a disk to disk image. If you just want to keep your data, just install the second hard disk, and copy the data across. Don't forget, if your using a retail or OEM version of Windows (XP I assume), then you'll need to re-regsiter windows again due to the major hardware changes.

but i have to sell my comp first so could i buy a new hard drive put it in my old pc and the transfer every thing to the new one .

Well, there's the dilemma. Can you buy a smaller, cheaper hard disk so at least you can copy your data off?

if i do that will it also copy windows xp from my old hard drive to my s hard drive

Yep, it sure does, though you will have to re-register again with Microsoft as it will mean a major change in hardware.
