Quad-core notebook pictured

Techwarelabs brings some spy shots of what is considered to be the first quad-core notebook in existence.

http://www.techpowerup.com/img/07-05-19/quad1_thm.jpg http://www.techpowerup.com/img/07-05-19/quad2_thm.jpg http://www.techpowerup.com/img/07-05-19/quad3_thm.jpg http://www.techpowerup.com/img/07-05-19/quad4_thm.jpg

This laptop will supposedly support dual 8800 Video cards, a 17" screen and chassis, two internal hard drives up to 160GB each, and the new quad core Intel CPU, all using a 975 chipset.

Good luck trying to cool all that.

and will be so hot it will burn your nutt sack off if you set it in your lap. :nutkick:

Jannu May 19, 2007 03:45 PM

They really ought to stop calling them monsters 'notebooks', it hurts.

mandelore May 19, 2007 04:00 PM

lol, damn thats gonna double up as a cooker for cooking on the go, or camping :p

notebook... slimline self heating paving slab

Actually I think this is pretty cool. If anyone else here can build that much power into that much space and not have the thing overheeat then fine, but I don't believe you could. This thing will not overheat otherwise they wouldn't be going to sell it. Most innovative cooling designs were first used in Notebooks (Heatpipes for example), so lets not knowck this product until it come out and get properly reviewed.

it needs a bigger screen lol, i think i saw a laptop/notebook dat had a 19" or 20" screen, more space for better cooling also

hat May 19, 2007 04:32 PM

lol

hell no, im not knocking it in any way at all, quad core in a laptop is awsome. just having a poke at the usual "hot" tendancies of hi powered laptops :)

trt740 May 19, 2007 05:11 PM

If that runs cool I will grow another ball.

a111087 May 19, 2007 05:46 PM

notice that it has 3 fans and some huge piece of ... copper heatsink?!

zekrahminator May 19, 2007 06:11 PM

With the proper array of heatpipes, that thing could be an asset to campers everywhere, especially when their stove runs out of gas or they need to start a fire :p.

TXcharger May 19, 2007 07:49 PM

screw trying to cool it, your gonna need a portable nuclear powerplant to run the thing for 2 hours

A guy I know uses 550w antec (slightly modded) for most of his testing.

Last one he described:

quad core intel
few gigs of ddr2
8800sli

under MASSIVE overclock of course, using dryice

So you dont really need all those megakilowatt supplies.

Except for 'notebooks' like these.

psffffttt THATS IT?

kwchang007 May 20, 2007 01:43 AM

besides heat and power problems, they're going to make two 8800's run off a 975 based chipset?

huh, i thought 975 only supports xfire. well, i guess you really do learn something everyday. well that's cool, when my parents hit the lottery i can build my board around a 975 not 680i

Seany1212 May 20, 2007 09:58 AM

FAXA May 20, 2007 12:51 PM

WarEagleAU May 21, 2007 05:34 PM

rofl trt. Thats so true. You will have to have one of those gel ice packs between the laptop and any surface, hard or soft

DaMulta May 21, 2007 05:42 PM
